Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys! I'm in the Los Angeles Area and have a 2001 Boxster S. I loaned my mechanic some money, which he "attempted" to pay me back while doing extra custom work on my car... only to drop it off in the middle of the night with a ton of parts missing, and disappear. My airbag light is on. IS THERE SOMEONE IN LA with a DURAMETRIC who can help me to turn off the weight sensors/turn off the light? So many little problems/parts now I can't afford to fix, but this would REALLY REALLY HELP. Can pay just a few bucks. Thanks!!!! - Dan [email removed]

POST 3Original post

Sorry, Dan, I'd drive up from SD, but I don't currently have my Durametric in-hand. Hope someone else can step up. At least the bum dropped your car off - there are worse stories. One serial-crooked shop went under with a warehouse full of customer cars, motors, and engines, and some of them went up for auction.

POST 4Original post

Schnelly stupid/crooked mechanics should be legal to stab. I would love to help but dont have durametric. I know we have a bunch of Peeps in the forum from LA. Maybe you should post in all the subforums.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've tried posting in a few forums. No dice. And thanks....guy who made the Eating Popcorn icon. It's not funny. This is my main possession and it's wiping me out.

POST 6Original post

I hope someone will help you. Note though most people only have the enthusiast version, which has a 3 VIN limitation of which the resale value of the cable also ties to (~$100 per unused VIN slot). The pro version doesn't have this restriction though so most likely you'll need someone with the pro version.

POST 7Original post

if you call around to some shops, there may be someone willing to help you out - you'd be surprised how helpful people can be if you tell them your story.

POST 8Original post

Are you sure the "mechanic" didn't steal the easy to resell $$, airbags also? If so no Durametric will help.

This was my exact thought. I hope your actual airbags are there. Good luck with this.

POST 10Original post

If you're in the SF Valley (or willing to drive there) I'll have my wrench Dan the owner of The Speed Gallery clear you codes for you, it only takes a minute or two. If you are missing air bags he probably has a set laying around he would sell reasonable... PM me your contact info....

POST 11Original post

Man that sucks, if you know him well maybe he will make good on it. I'd be hunting that guy down. what was the "work" he was going to address with the car?
