Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also ran into puddles going around 25-30-40mph with that terrible visibility.
Leading evidence: 'Run into puddles going around 25-30-40mph' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I was out running errands in heavy rain yesterday.

I'm currently running new Hankook v12 Evos (since I bought the fronts with the wheels and I couldn't get Michelin PSS in 18s).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, rather than work from home and wait the storm out I decided "it looks like the worst will miss us" and left for work. I was wrong, although to my credit I was mostly worried about the chance of hail.
Ran into some really heavy rain, visibility was maybe 10-15 feet and after that taillights were the only thing that could be seen. Also ran into puddles going around 25-30-40mph with that terrible visibility.
Now, I didn't try and be race car driver and make any sudden movements, but with those tires at no time did I feel the car pull to one side or decide it wanted to go in a place I wasn't directing it. Going over the puddles was fine, although it wasn't something I really wanted to do, but the car didn't pull to a side or do anything weird.
Due to the noise I wouldn't have known anyway, but I don't think I slid the rear around any or broke loose the tires, although I wasn't trying to be fast - but putting on the power (little by little) was fine and the car didn't do anything abnormal.
The only real thing that happened is it forced a seam loose on my convertable top right under the rear window, which is easy enough to address. The less real thing that happened was the white knuckle driving and not wanting to be there along with being stuck driving and having to push forward, which wasn't fun but I lived and I don't think I'll have bad dreams from it.
No thanks. Hate driving either "fun car" in the rain...I don't mind getting them wet, but both cars have UHP summer tires...optimized for sudden death in the wet.
Glad you didn't die.
Continental's DW tires were noted in a couple of recent tire tests to be the best performers in the wet compared to comparable Michelins, Pirellis, etc.
They are a summer performance tire, not really an all-season tire. Not good in the cold temps.
But rain they can handle.
I have DWs on my Cayman, and Michelin PS2s on a Boxster. Cant say I can tell the difference in "handling" feel between the two, but the Michelins feel a little bit "softer/more quiet".
I've had DW's and now DWS on my Bimmer primarily so I can drive it year round and for the longevity and slightly softer sidewalls. Rain performance of the DWS was about the same if not slightly better than the DW's due to the different tread and softer sidewalls. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I agree with the awesome wet weather performance of both tires.
They are actually pretty fun in cold temps
Normally I wouldn't drive any car in rain like that, but I didn't see it coming and got stuck. It's a daily driver, so it's going to see some bad weather from time to time.
I'm a bit timid in the rain. Back almost 15 years ago now I was in the jeep and learned that it's dangerous to hydroplane in dips in the road going 40mph. Decided it would be "safer" in the right lane, and spun around as soon as I moved over. Going 30-40 and looking out the window seeing the road come at you isn't fun, backing that fast into the ditch isn't fun, and thankfully a few feet of water slowed me down.
So yeah, hitting puddles at speed is a bit different for me.
I was out running errands in heavy rain yesterday. I'm currently running new Hankook v12 Evos (since I bought the fronts with the wheels and I couldn't get Michelin PSS in 18s). The rear wheels were very slippery and I saw the "save my ***" light on the dash come on several times. Even when accelerating hard in a straight line in 2nd gear.
I am underwhelmed with the Hankooks especially in the rain...but I am very, very happy with the stability system on my 996. I can imagine that driving an earlier 911 would have been a bit nerve-racking in heavy rain.
My 996 currently has the v12's and I agree that wet weather performance isn't the best but it does pretty good in the dry. And unlike you, I do not have PSM so I need to carry a spare underwear under the seat(yes no glovebox for me either).
