that 2nd YT video claims they are selling for less than agreed value and using the next deal to cover the dif...that's a ponzi scheme.

Selling a consigned car for $10k less then you promised to give the cars consignee isnt illegal, and if you can use the proceeds to make more than $10k before the payment is due its even smart business.....assuming you have the financial strength to cover the times it doesnt.

There is quite a difference between using the sales proceeds from 1 car to buy other inventory and delay repaying the original owner his $ vs intentionally falsifying VIN numbers to defraud.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This happened to a friend who sold a car via consignment. It took months to get his money, then they tried to give him less than what they sold it for. Lawyers and the DA got involved. Sorry to hear about your experience.
For whatever reason, this is one of those things that since it pops up I can't look away. I genuinely feel bad for those that are getting screwed in this situation and hope they get the best possible outcome. Always makes me wonder how people go down this path to screwing over people.
There is quite a difference between using the sales proceeds from 1 car to buy other inventory and delay repaying the original owner his $ vs intentionally falsifying VIN numbers to defraud. Unlike lawyers who are legally required to segregate $ and not co-mingle client funds with operating funds, car dealers are not only free to do this, it apparently is their general operating method.
Not quite a Ponzi scheme. Many businesses buy inventory, sell products, and drag out paying their suppliers for as long as possible. Though almost all reputable businesses eventually pay, some dont, they go bankrupt, and leave suppliers as unsecured creditors even though their product was sold. These guys are no doubt shady crooks but scamming $ from rich people is a professional sport in this country. Trusting someone else with an asset of yours worth $100k or more comes with risk.
that 2nd YT video claims they are selling for less than agreed value and using the next deal to cover the dif...that's a ponzi scheme. Agreeable what you stated is not
. Either way OP's video dude got scammed and that sucks. I've only done consignment once title was not turned over until cash was exchanged. It's news to me there is a different model. Is that common? Why would you have/need to surender a title for a car to sit on someone's lot?

Selling a consigned car and never telling the owner it was sold, thats fraud.
Using a consigned car as collateral for a loan, thats fraud.
Forging a signature on a title, thats fraud.
Giving vehicles and original titles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to someone and trusting them, thats stupid.
sure but go +1 on the promise aka contract with that model and it's a ponzi scheme. Not debatable a fact. Question is why do you need to turnover a title for consignment?
Being asked to turnover a title should have been a big red flag, but these type scams and the con men who pull them off succeed because they gain peoples confidence first. Maybe CNC was legit at first, maybe never, but their reputation ultimately allowed them to pull this off.
Most Ponzi schemes involve no real assets at all, just promises of above market returns to entice new $ which is used to keep old investors hooked and bragging about how great an investment they are in. Their word of mouth brings in even more new $ until one day the scammers just vanish with whatever they have
The biggest Ponzi scheme in history. Billions of dollars, he would pay people with others people money and due to the amazing returns people would leave the money invested with him. A few people committed suicide because they lost everything, Bernie went to jail and died there. The government recover some money but just a small portion. Anyway nobody is going to Care for your money and assets as much as yourself. I know this is a little off subject but since we learned from each technically here about our cars, we can learn about money and managing our own. Pay yourself first 15 to 20 percent put it aside , so live with the rest. Do a one year membership to AAII (American Association of Individual Investors) learn as much as you can a then manage your own. I have multiple accounts with fidelity and vanguard, in both I have people advisors I can consult but in the end I make all decisions on my own. Hopefully you get your car back in great shape, beautiful dog, I have the same front bumper.
What really makes the whole CNC story dark is the fact that when they were bleeding through cash telling customers lies about payouts/delivers times, not paying off liens, forging signatures on titles, taking out loans against cars they didn't own and knowingly writing bad checks, they continued the sin by making new bogus deals and showing up at the owner's premises with smiles on their faces to take their vehicles knowing full well that owner may never see any money OR their car again.
CNC owner - Clay Thom had the gall to come on YouTube and act like they were victims of the impact of COVID19 (even though he said it wasn't at first), business complexities from growth, and bad internet press. Really? After reading more than 40 accounts with the same lies going back to 2018, I'm sure it's more than bad press. This company has broken so many laws, I'm sure it will take authorities years to sort it all out. My bet, they can't sell the building and will file for Chap 11 bankruptcy protection.
Time will tell if Clay and Co. will make "all wrongs right" as he claims.
Looks like CNC motors has now removed their website.
No telling how many owners are still holding titles without their cars and never received their consignment money.
No telling how many people in good faith paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for exotic cars but never received their titles. Very expensive garage ornament!
No telling how many banks, investors, etc. have gotten screwed with the business transactions associated with this company.
"O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive"!
You Tube
Well, when you (CNC motors) squandered people's money away with nothing to show, it's hard to bring resolve to people who stand to lose hundreds of thousands on high-end exotic sports cars. The latest news is the owner is selling his home. In the video interview, Clayton Thom (owner - CNC motors) claimed to be a regular kind of guy living in a modest middle-class home, but what people have found out is he lived in a lavish $3 million house(s) purchased in a "Thom Family Trust". When it sells, I think he should offer that money to all the victims of his fraudulent car transactions.
Lots of people realizing they've been screwed to the point a website has been set up for this case...
