Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced a ballast only a few weeks ago (2002, 57kmiles).
Leading evidence: 'Replace ballast only a few weeks ago (2002, 57kmiles)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'first' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace ballast only a few weeks ago (2002, 57kmiles)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Easy way to test stage 2 is have a Durametric/PST2/PIWIS that can activate that test.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Yesterday, stop and go traffic, ~70F OAT, coolant temp began to rise so I turned off the A/C which allowed it to return to normal. I have verified that both front fans are working but which speed.?
Any simple, easy way to check that the fans are getting full battery voltage.??
'01 C4, ~25k miles.
The fans or ballasts can fail, but unusual.
Easy way to do stage 1 fan is turn on your A/C, you should hear the fans spool up at low speed.
Easy way to test stage 2 is have a Durametric/PST2/PIWIS that can activate that test.
There are ways to "force" the stage 2 by hacking the electronics, if you do a search for that - some people mod in switches to turn it on or have it automatically come on all the time.
Aside from the above unless you suspect a problem you can idle a warmed up car in the sun. Stage 2 should kick on if it's hot enough outside. You should be able to hear the fans on each side of the car and from the inside = very loud.
I replaced a ballast only a few weeks ago (2002, 57kmiles). believe it was the first. symptom was only one fan would run when AC on. did not notice at speed. sitting in traffic with AC off the needle crept past the 0 in 80 and turned on AC and temp went down. Easy fix - thanks to the forum there were several write-ups
When I was in there I "hotwired" the fan with 12v straight and it is loud at full speed, with ballasts they run at about half I guess. never heard them at full while driving (yet, had the car two months and loving it! ).
I have an 06 Porsche Cayenne, and the condenser fan are not turning on when the AC is on, they do come on when they reach a high temperature but not when the AC is on any ideas of what the problem might be?
