Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have checked the relay and when energized it does close the circuit within the relay, I am installing a new relay anyhow, but don't think the relay is at fault.

Already replaced ign switch and jumped the clutch switch.

I ordered Chilton repair manual, hopefully that will have a wiring diagram.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have seen many posts for no start condition on the 996, but not too many difinitive answers that corrected the problem except for a bad ignition switch and sometime the starter itself. My problem is that there apparently is no signal going to the starter relay. If I bridge the terminals for the starter relay and turn ignition to start the starter will crank but vehicle won't start. If I reinstall the relay and turn the key to start, starter doesn't crank. I have checked the relay and when energized it does close the circuit within the relay, I am installing a new relay anyhow, but don't think the relay is at fault. From what I have read I may have problem with the immobilizer or possibly a wire connector issue. Anyone have similar experience or any thoughts as to what I should look at next.
Already replaced ign switch and jumped the clutch switch. Thank you for your reply. I think I need a wiring diagram to find out where the leads to the starter relay originate. I ordered Chilton repair manual, hopefully that will have a wiring diagram.
Could it be the starter wiring harness? Had a problem with very slow cranking (occasionally none) even with a good battery. Apparently Porsche has upgraded the wiring harness. The new replacement solved the problem for me.
Could be wiring problem, as soon as I obtain a wiring diagram I may be able to diagnose my problem further. The no crank started out as an intermittent problem, now it won't crank at all unless I bridge the starter relay.
