Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since I still owe a year on mine, I'd have a family member take my life insurance policy and pay it off. Then use it as my casket, removing the seats of course so they can be used in the pool room for guests.

POST 2Original post

Weird question. We owe nothing on it. I told my wife to sell it for whatever she can get for it and put the money in the retirement account. She can't drive it so it is of no use to her. We both love the car and everything about what it is, but in the end it is just a car. There are a lot more important things in life to worry about.

POST 3Original post

It would probably be consumed by the fire resulting from the crash in which I died.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Considering the place I posed the question I think it's not too wierd a question and it was meant as light hearted. Of course I know there are a lot more important things in life to worry about Debbie Downer. Sheesh. Things like Sapphire Gin and Tonics, Vida Guerra and stuff......

POST 7Original post

My wife would keep driving it everyday like she does now. I suppose she will have to find another mechanic.

POST 10Original post

My wife would sell mine as fast as possible. She refers to both Porsches' I've owned as "an engine with a stereo." To Vida!

Cue up the Curley voice from the 3 Stooges...

POST 13Original post

My wife has joked (I think she's joking) that I will be buried in it. Strap me in behind the wheel, dig a hole, and drop it in. However, I think the reality would be that I'll be put in a plywood box and my son's would battle over the cars, three boys and two Porsche's.

POST 14Original post

As others have mentioned, I intend to proceed through the pearly gates backwards, possibly upside-down, on fire. The authorities are welcome to load my Porsche onto a flatbed and haul it around to high schools as a precautionary tale about safe driving.

I do like that idea...precautionary tale....*edits Living Will again*

Haha, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the thread title!

POST 17Original post

I don't know, if I didn't die while driving it would probably either get sold, or given to my brother in law. I can't imagine she would keep it around for the day my kids could safely operate it.

POST 18Original post

I've got a nephew, who if he had half a brain, would be sucking up big-time for my cars, the boat, the bike and many other toys so as to secure first dibs upon my demise. I can assure you that if I was My uncle, I'd be barnacle-like in my efforts to be the beneficiary. I've got tons of cool stuff. Sadly for my nephew, he apparently does not have half a brain, so the stuff goes to the wife, the dogs and Pablo the Pool Boy.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting and true fact. Last year one of our beloved PCA members passed away. His family asked the club to come by the service and "rev" our engines as we passed and we did. It was apparently his favorite sound in the world.

POST 21Original post

I've long said I'll bury her in it since I'm pretty sure she loves it more than me. She is a fan of cremation though, so maybe she'll take DT's approach...

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 12380033

Thank you for that. I could not have said it better; or agree more.

I attended Phil Hill's funeral at a old church in Santa Monica very close to the house he lived in most of his life. Carroll Shelby was there & directly across the street from the entrance to the church was parked a 1965 competition Cobra. There were also 4 or 5 classic cars parked nearby waiting for the funeral procession.

POST 24Original post

It would probably go to my sister and brother-in-law because they are sports car enthusiasts and would appreciate it. My wife can't drive a manual and doesn't really care about cars.

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 12380699

Wow, that must make it a little tougher around car-buying time. Thankfully, my wife "gets" the car thing, loves driving the 911, and "can't picture [me] without a Porsche."

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 12380755

Interestingly enough, she stays out of my car buying decisions as long as there is at least one practical car in the family. When it comes to her car, she listens to my feedback, but really only wants enough space for hauling ski/sailing/camping gear, and the ability to put car seats in when we get to that point. I got lucky with that.

POST 27Original post

Same here. My wife actually found my 996 for me and since she was "responsible" went with me to look at it (bought it on the spot). As for the 997, I texted her that I found a car. Her response was "Great. What are we doing for dinner?" I don't recall her ever asking how much it cost...most likely she was afraid I'd start doing the same thing!

POST 28Original post

The trouble I got in for buying the 996 is that I did it on my own...she LOVES working over car salesmen as a team, and was bummed when I just showed up with the car. This is the same wife who likes to see how long she can bait the "Microsoft" scam callers before they realize she's screwing with them.

POST 29Original post

Yeah, my wife is a car nut too, but a bit of a Mercedes/AMG snob these days. She actually found my 911. That said though, when I'm gone, it'll get flung and the cash will go to all things Prada. I'm sure of it, cos it won't be enough to get the AMG/GT.

POST 30Original post

I'm almost sure, keyword almost, she'll sell it to fund a new horse (the other loosing investment besides a Pcar).

POST 31Original post

Ive given my wife strict instructions to sell it to johnny irish....

POST 32Original post

My daughter loves it and I'd love for her to have it. But she's two, and even my executor-- who drives a C4S-- probably will turn it into 15 minutes' tuition before m'girl can drive. Guess we'll just have to enjoy the hell out of it while I'm on this side of the dirt...

Unless she is a hot young barista at an LA Porsche dealer or wears old Rolexes, he won't give her the time of day. Though maybe if you give her instructions on how to talk about the Tip being as good as the PDK and how the 997 is the next 993 she might have a shot

POST 34Original post

This from my 7yo daughter last week "Daddy, when you die I get your car, Caitlin(her twin) can have the truck!" This is why Canadians don't keep guns in the house!

POST 35Original post

Both my 996 and my 911-50th are in my will. Brother-in-law and nephew.

POST 36Original post

Same situation 3 boys 2 Porsches I imagine one huge battle for the cars. I have only one dying wish and my wife knows this well. Her future husband never ever ever gets behind the wheel or I am coming back from the grave! (84 going on sale soon)

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12384757

Yeah I should tell my kids the same thing, no guy pretending to be their future father is allowed to drive my 996 or whatever I have at the moment. I just need to rent a manual car and teach them some weekend.

POST 38Original post

My older son gets the 996 Targa and younger one the 986 S

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 12380337

Now THAT is cool! I predict that my car will huddle in the corner crying until she dies of grief. Either that or my wife will sell her and go on a cruise. I really like the idea of no future husband getting behind the wheel! I need to discuss that with my wife!

POST 40Original post

Mine has a tiptronic so my wife will continue to drive it until the speeding tickets mount up and makes insurance unaffordable. If she passes away, I will sell her Lexus and buy the 1978 SC I have had my eye on. Looks like it's twin below.

My kids [4] will share it on a rotating basis. Every 6 months it will rotate to the next one in line. They will all share the costs, no daily driving, must have space in their garage and each one is limited to 2,500 miles per 6 months. Their ages run from 34-39 and 2 of them are CHP officers. They all know what is/has been done to the car, oil types, maintenance schedules, etc. All done via contract......

POST 44Original post

My wife would drive the 996TT till it died. She really liked the 996 Carrera, even did a few DE's it it.

POST 45Original post

When I purchased the 996TT I had not sold my C2 yet so I had to finance it. My cousin co-signed with me so his name is on the title. We talked about taking his name off and I told him I liked the idea of him having his name on the title in case something happened to me. It would go to my cousin who's helped me work on every car I've ever owned. [url=https://flic.kr/p/u6QXzF]

POST 48Original post

My 7 year old son has claimed the gt3 for himself since day 1. The wife will finally drive and keep the sc since I won't be around to hear how many times she stalled it.
