Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace (i.e' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace (i.e' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys - I've got the fun task of storing and selling a friend's much loved 996 as he goes off to take a job across the other side of the country with Porsche Finance. What's not to like, right? Great, great career move for him.
Her's the link to Autotrader with the extensive option list etc... It's really an unusual find and in super good shape and fun to drive, despite the high KMs.
http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Porsche/9...PO&orup=3_15_3
Note:
1. 200,000 KMs = 125,000 Miles. Most this was put on by the 2nd owner driving from Vancouver to LA.
2. $29,000 CND = $24,750 USDs
I am having fun with it and would consider buying it myself but I just don't need a forth car!
Thoughts anyone?
Tx in advance...
Nice but seems very pricy.
Why "Note: Intermediate shaft bearing (IMS) issue is not a concern on this particular 911 " ? It certainly could be a concern if it hasn't been replaced. This line needs further explanation...
Understood. Tx for your comment.
FYI - the manufacture date falls in the category of pre-Civil suit in which PAG covered engines made between May 01 and Feb 05. This by no means cancels out the risk of an IMSB failure BUT it certainty lessens it and from experienced mechanics "At 200 Kms if it hasn't gone by now it probably won't". Again simple conjecture at best but having said that, even some of the L&N bearings have failed too. Do you get a car like this and sit and worried 24-7 about it? Hell no. You drive it.
In the Southeast U.S. I would ask $20k-$22k US. I'm not sure how much being located in the Canadian West Coast impacts that for a local sale.
Despite the love of the 996 in this forum, this is a tough crowd when it comes to pricing. I think you can get more from a non-forum member than from members here unless you have something really special.
Very nice looking car!
Not sure I can agree with the statement "Rare collector car, a great investment." That seems a bit over the top to me.
I's say roughly 20K US based on the mods. Needs a bit more spatula though.
Being that that you're in Canada and if you're willing to have it sit for the right buyer, I don't think your asking price is far fetched.
Reason being is the Speed Yellow/Blk Interior/Aero LSD/Sport Seats w/Heater/Red Seat Belt combo isn't very common. Was LSD from the factory? Usually, I've mostly seen them on '99 models.
But as others said, if you want it sold fast, lower 20's should move it faster.
Another comment is to leave out the dark and also artsy pics as you're trying to sell the car itself and maybe provide clear shots of all sides to show condition of panels and paint. As for the interior, show any closeup pics of any wear areas such as the seat bolsters and floor mats. Also take pics of the underhood frunk option sticker and engine bay. Take pics of underside of engine to show if there are any leaks or sweating. Also take pics if the car comes with original manuals/extra keys. Some will take pics of the cluster when it's running to verify the mileage, oil pressure, engine temp, and CEL lights, etc.
GLWS. She's a real beauty and one of the more desireable ones I've seen lately.
I drive mine and don't worry about it 24-7. But I wouldn't say it is of zero concern to potential buyers. If by "pre-Civil suit" you mean the US Class Action suit there is nothing in there that states a car built prior to May 01 is immune. I was merely trying to point out that the posted statement is misleading even though I personally agree with most of what you say. I believe the common wisdom is that on any 986 or 996 if the bearing CAN be changed (i.e. not the larger bearing that many post '05 re-manufactured engines got) then it should be changed. Relatively cheap insurance. If it was a real GT3 then the statement would be 100% correct.
Agreed - looks like a nice car, but a bit pricey for a 1st gen 996
The IMS comment? I'd revise that. Anybody with a clue will debate it, so no point going there. The only way to not worry about the issue is to do the upgrade. Period.
GLWS
It's been for sale for 2 years or so at this price, which is high unless its been perfectly maintained and proactively cared for.
I'd offer low 20's, almost did last summer but the mileage scared me off...
I just saw and looked around a white 2000 4 Carrera Cab Manual for sale near my house which I thought was a very nice deal for some one .

NO HARD TOP in the deal. No affiliation to the firm but wondered was anyone interested. Ephrata PA.
Thanks guys. All good points. This car is a testament for good service. IT drives like a car with 1/2 the mileage. I may buy it! But I agree w the price...
P.s. You guys here talk a lot! I like that! The 987 and Macan forums kinda just poke along!
