Slightly off topic but washing and really cleaning the car will go a long way.

Luckily found a business that could repair control unit for a couple of hundred dollars.

You will probably find a lot of other parts that need replacing...upper strut bearings and so on.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Spraying mine with deox-it fixed the issue for me.
Havent posted in years. But I still have my 996 that spends more time sitting then driven.
2002 Cab with 84,000 miles. Strut boots are in bad shape and airbag light is on. Repair these before selling or sell as is?
TIA!
Find a local shop that will reset the airbag light. That's a big red flag right there. As far as the strut boots, point that out, and any other problems. Then at least you are being an honest seller.
Just keep in mind that anything that needs to be addressed will be used by the potential buyer as a bargaining chip and will have them look deeper. If I saw a ripped up strut boot I'd immediately start looking at bump stops, shocks, bushings.... Why not just fix it all and present it as a well sorted and documented car? Slightly off topic but washing and really cleaning the car will go a long way. Not everyone can wrench but anyone can wash a car and ultimately shows how you cared and treated the car.
Are you doing yourself or sending to mechanic?
Boot is fairly easily and shows car was taken care of.
An air bag light would scare me. Could be simply a bad ground or something requiring $$$. I had an air bag light on in my BMW 740. Air bag control unit was bad. New one was $$$$. Luckily found a business that could repair control unit for a couple of hundred dollars.
Thank you all. I will do most of the work as I have for the past 14 years except the LN - IMS bearing.

Will see if Strut Boot is a DIY. You betcha it will be spitshined and tires glossed for sale.
Durametric is exclusive to Porsche. You are selling your car. Why spring for that when just about any local shop or dealer can turn off the airbag light? Unless you are planning on another Porsche purchase. For the strut boot, the entire strut assembly needs to come out and be disassembled. You will probably find a lot of other parts that need replacing...upper strut bearings and so on. Maybe let the next guy deal with it?
Really didn't know what I would get charged for airbag light reset nor did I inquire. $300 Durametric seemed like a reasonable chance and I would probably just include the reader with the sale.
Durametric is a great tool no matter your situation. If you want to provide additional value, pull the over rev report to show. Doesn't hurt to provide cam deviation info either. Shows you're proactive with info which buyers like. Including the cable with the sale would be a nice plus but I also don't see why you wouldn't be able to flip it here easily for minimal loss.
some of the Porsche guys have the more expensive durametric thats has no limits on vin numbers. If you normally socialize with them at cars and coffee and other events they may just help you run your dme over revs cam deviations and turn off the light. Buy them a beer 🍺.
My Foxwell 510 reader can clear airbag codes and it was cheaper than a Durametric. It can't read cam deviations but it has been pretty useful. The upside is that it will work as a generic OBD2 reader on any car or you can flash it for different brands; you just need to pay a small fee to unlock the software. The airbag light is most likely caused by your seatbelt receptacle. Spraying mine with deox-it fixed the issue for me.
Well, Durametric was too easy.
Haven't sprayed deoxit yet.
KBB has trade in around $18,000 and private sale around $19,000. Y'all think it's about right?
If it's in crappy shape then maybe yes but that doesn't sound like the case. I'd skip KBB, especially for Porsche evaluations. Give Hagerty a try. They do a much better job at providing a more realistic value.
