Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I went with the CDR-220 with the internal Becker installed Bluetooth.
Leading evidence: 'Install bluetooth' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install bluetooth' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello I’m very new to 996’s. I have a nice center console with modern entertainment system, the problem is I don’t like aftermarket “stuff” especially electronics. My question is that I’d like to return to a stock console perhaps with the GT3 delete. The car came with a Becker with a front trunk CD changer. Does anyone know which head unit this would be? Also is the lower HVAC control the same part as if it were in the upper position with just a different facia? What bits would I need to return this HVAC and radio to the upper position? I hope what I’m asking is somewhat clear. Thanks for any help you can give.
Your options sticker will tell you what radio it came with. Most early 99s had a Becker 210, CDR-210 for CD player or CR-210 for cassette.
688 CD-radio Becker Porsche CDR-210 USA
696 CD-radio Becker Porsche CDR-220
329 Cassette-radio Becker Porsche CR-210
322 Cassette-radio Becker Porsche CR-220
My car came with the 210. I found the display hard to read so I “upgraded” to the 220.
Either way I like the classic look too. The orange matches nicely with the HVAC. Plus, I don’t want nav or Bluetooth.
That's not true. Plenty of 993s and 996s with a 210 and a CD changer.
There's also a way to make a 210 use bluetooth by tricking it into thinking it's the CD changer
Yep. But I think there is also a cable to connect to your phone directly you can get off ebay,. Not that any phone now has a headphone jack lmao
The 220 can be upgraded to integrated BT audio by Becker themselves. Not cheap though

Thanks for the info, so it sounds like the 210 or 220 are my options, what about the HVAC control, is that the same unit regardless of the up or down position?
I found I needed this part when I deleted my Nav unit and went with the GT3 delete. It supports the radio below the ac unit in the upper position. I went with the CDR-220 with the internal Becker installed Bluetooth. It makes a nice package.

You're also going to need to source a replacement vent/support frame. The Metra conversion kit to double DIN requires irreversible changes to the mounts(that front fascia bezel looks like the Metra unit). Quite a bit of plastic is removed in this conversion.
These are great posts, thanks so much. The unit is a Pioneer, but yes I’m sure the frame was hacked in the same manor. I see quite a few Becker radios available, but most have no security code. I’d have to source one with the original security code I’m sure.
