Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Generation: 20261027T070717Z · outcome-qualification-6. Deterministic extraction; no AI model inference. How we use sources

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Like many of us, the rod holding up the headliner behind the sunroof has slipped its moorings and rattles around up there, particularly with the windows or sunroof open. Following from this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turbo-forum/545036-headliner-removal.html I dropped the headliner (no prob) but the mounting points for the rod are different than pictured in that thread. Instead of a slot on the top it has just a hole on the side, and the rod is too long to be inserted into one hole once the other side has been inserted. Anyone encounter this before? heres a pic of mine.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its about 1 cm too long. Tempted to pull it out and cut it, then use silicone to fix it in there. I lack the appropriate cutting tool tho.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

SOLVED. I reached in further and bent the rod upwardsmanaged to het it home. Was hard on the headliner but all seems OK. Will leave thread up though!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Epilogue: headliner sags between the sunroof and seam with rod. Not sure if thats the way it was or because I manhandled it. In any event it does not rattle or flutter any more (perhaps just a ruffle at speed with everything open). So Im more or less satisfied.
