Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

To some potential buyers the low mileage may be an attraction. However, the lack of use can also spell trouble with almost any under used vehicle.
Leading evidence: 'Use vehicle' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check autrader and porsche's cpo cars' (1 discussions). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good luck with that...
When I look at all of the little niggly warranty repairs done on my car in the first 15,000 miles I shudder to think what might be ahead for this carefully kept time capsule.
Bruce Anderson's formula for very low mileage cars has always been to add 10% to the value. He values a pristine '02 at $28K. Add 10% and you get $30,800. Round up a bit more and I think $32K is about right. Your friend might get that much. Maybe.
I predict flames
so I will
1700 miles.... they were either ALL track miles and this guy had a blast - or this car has been wasted worse than Phil's car.....
since the "ad" is for a friend... no love loss from the RL communitee
I think it's sad. Owning such a wonderful car and driving it so infrequently is a crime.
Good luck with the sale - I'm sure it looks, feels and smells like a new car!
There are several 996s with low miles (not this low) with asking prices in the upper 30s. Check autrader and Porsche's CPO cars. Will Rennlisters pay this much? Not likely but we are the minority of Porsche owners and potential buyers.
Not for a 2002 base Carerra - for about the same dough +/- a few grand you can be in a 996 TT. No way this fetches anywhere near that price. A smart buyer would pay in the low 20s for a 2002 that has had the bugs discovered and fixed with some miles on it.

To some potential buyers the low mileage may be an attraction. However, the lack of use can also spell trouble with almost any under used vehicle. Pricing may be high, but you never know how it will pan out, somebody out there may find this and pay the asking price. My 996 Porsche has taught me not to let it sit idle, but to drive and enjoy the car as much as possible.
I could have bought an '05 Turbo S cab with new Michelins, that looked very good, drove very nicely, for less...$38,500.
I had a PPI done which revealed it needed new front (PCCB) brake pads, a coolant pipe underneath, a Y pipe (turbo area related) $1250 parts and labor, not bad to screamin' in an "S" cab. Oh, 99k miles on the clock. I passed as I wanted more than the 2 hours the owner gave me to jump on it.
what a waste. no way i would buy a car with this low miles. my guess would be that whoever buys this thing ends up having to replace something major within 3k miles.
