My 996 is a daily driver and I drive into DC (freedom + pothole capital of the world) via some country roads, so I can't use skinny tires or my wheels will be destroyed along with my spine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is probably one of those beaten-to-death questions but for the life of me, after wasting half the morning searching, I can't find a definitive answer. I'm replacing all four tires on my C2. My 996 is a daily driver and I drive into DC (freedom + pothole capital of the world) via some country roads, so I can't use skinny tires or my wheels will be destroyed along with my spine. Are there any problems with going to 235/45/17 F and 265/40/17 (or even 275/40/17) R from factory sizes? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I can tell you that I run the 17 x 9" square wheels sometimes, and 245/40/17 up front in some brands will rub slightly at full lock only, rear has plenty of room for 265-285+. Stock alignment, stock offset 17 x 9" twist wheels. On a stock wheel setup I doubt 235f 265r would give you any issues unless your alignment is way out of your wheels are incorrect offset

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply. Still hoping to swap wheels at the same time, but I'm running out of time on the rears.
