Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

For the car it's Oh no, IMS!!" (it was more likely I ran over a palm frond)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My '99 C2 has always done this, but it's never gotten worse nor have I had any other issues... When the car is cold, or not really warmed up yet, when I shift into 1st at a light or stop sign for example, there's a clunk noise from somewhere in the back. Any ideas ?

POST 2Original post

No problem unless it clunks when totally stopped. Never rush or even push it into first. Dip the clutch wait a couple of seconds and it should drop right in there.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by when I'm not totally stopped...it happens when I'm at a red light or stop sign and am stopped. I don't force it into gear though.

POST 4Original post

That can't be good. My Harley clunks when I snick it into 1st gear, but that's the way it is supposed to work. Not so much with Dr P's creations. Have you checked the trans fluid level?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I haven't, but when I've had it in for service they do and it's never come back as a problem. I'll take a look and see what it looks like. Like I said, I've had "this" for years and it's never been an issue, but when you read enough of the posts on the Forum you start thinking about stuff.

POST 6Original post

I hear that; checking in with rennlist is worse than going to WebMD when you feel crappy. For my body it's "Oh no, EBOLA!!" (it was more likely too much key lime yogurt) For the car it's Oh no, IMS!!" (it was more likely I ran over a palm frond)
