Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

not a lot of discussion lately mines is coming due likely next year so OEM / - ft. lbs not noted https://www.ecstuning.com/b-sachs-pa...611691102~sac/ Stage 1 - 395 ft. lbs https://www.ecstuning.com/b-south-be.../k70290hd~sbc/ Performance - 400 ft. lbs https://www.ecstuning.com/b-sachs-pe...83082999736kt/ what is the foot-pounds of an OEM kit, mine has a bit of heavy pedal, I really don't mind do the heavy duty clutches add longevity ?

POST 3Original post

You can get a Sachs clutch kit on Rockauto for about $450. Sachs is probably the OEM.

POST 4Original post

Buy your clutch package from Porsche and pay the price. Do it once, do it right. Having to do the clutch job again is really no fun at all.

A Sachs kit is a Sachs kit... I've had mine (from Rock Auto) for roughly 5 years now (did it myself) and even after a FSI Stage II 3.8 track build (3.5 years ago) it's still going strong (Jake said it was fine...).

POST 6Original post

Porsche does not make any of the clutch parts, the flywheels are made by LUK and the pressure plates, clutch plates, throw out bearings, etc. are made by others, primarily Sachs. So if you go to a dealer and buy yhe kits you are paying the Porsche Tax for then to put it into a box with the Porsche name on it. Just go to one of the many sources for Porsche parts and buy the Sachs kit. Probably the worst case of this "tax" is the AC Compressor. The Porsche list price for one is about $1,800. Rock Auto has the Denso compressor for about $275 and it is the exact same compressor that Porsche sells. I replaced several years ago and I can tell you the one I took out was exactly the same as the Rock Auto one, same model number, configuration, etc.

POST 7Original post

Those ft/lbs. are the torque the clutch can handle, not how hard the pedal will be to push. When I did the clutch in my Z4MC I got 'OEM' parts from Luk and (I think) Sachs from one of the usual suspects. Later I found the same parts on Rock Auto for much less. I second that recommendation.

POST 8Original post

I went through this with my engine build last year. RockAuto is cheapest for the SACHS clutch. In December Amazon was the cheapest for the Luk flywheel at $396.64. Unfortunately, it is now $585.35 at Amazon. RockAuto has it for $480.79.
