Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car has the OEM AeroKit - so with the curve on the wing.... there's no place for the normal Porsche and "Carrera 4S" emblems... So, I wanted to try something out - had a buddy print up some vinyl decals and added it to my C4S............ first impression is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.... may have him re-do it a tiny bit smaller....

POST 2Original post

That looks great! It has a neat retro feel. Any other pictures of the car?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks, I will take more pics this weekend, heading out for long drive in Death Valley to see the super bloom

POST 4Original post

Super cool! I have thought of doing this too, but didn't know how and it is hard to find any pics of it done decent... So thanks for posting!

POST 6Original post

Looks real nice, did you also consider doing the Carrera 4S script instead? Wonder how that would look compared to what you have now.

POST 8Original post

The 996 C4S with a factory aerokit is quite a rare bird. Very nice....

POST 9Original post

Looks great. Indeed a bit smaller might look great as well. Just in case i have a black "Carrera" badge if you want to incorporate it somewhere.

Looks cool! Makes it have some 993 flavor. When you re-do it, have your graphics guy tighten up his product a little; consistent letter widths and line thicknesses, and then make sure to get it perfectly centered!

POST 11Original post

Looks great! I'll trade you my C4S trunk lid for the aero?! Come on it's a fair deal! Plus $500?

POST 12Original post

I took the liberty of retouching your photo Iko - hope you don't mind. Not perfect but gives you a sense of what it might look like with smaller lettering. Current Medium Small FWIW, I think the lettering is a neat idea. Cheers

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks everyone will post a new pic when/if i make em smaller

POST 14Original post

I really like the idea. Always thought the center reflectors with the Porsche logo inside looked cool. As far as size, I'd prolly would make it so large. I like 91one's smallest version. But regardless, it's a great idea!

Suprise level: 0 I wonder if a sticker could simulate the old school, embedded stencil?

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 14023451

Probably wouldn't provide the same sense of depth with a sticker. It doesn't look bad, but definitely different on a 996.

POST 20Original post

Any chance we can see this photoshop job on a black 996 c4s?

POST 21Original post

That wing on the C4S widebody is very well proportioned. Such a unique spec of 996, glad you're enjoying it.

POST 23Original post

If there was a way to open up the reflector and apply the lettering on the inside (it would have to be printed backwards for it to work), the effect would probably be very similar to the stenciled classic version. Plus there would be no concerns with the lettering peeling off. Just a thought. Iko: really like the b&w photo!

That looks good. It's different, and it's subtle.

POST 27Original post

wow! i think that looks amazing! might consider a similar upgrade..

I would LOVE this. -Eric

POST 31Original post

If anyone has a spare / scratched / cracked reflector that could be experimented with, I think it would be worth trying to see if the reflector can be opened. As I mentioned previously, this could look really amazing if the decals were put on the inside of the reflector surface, so they can be seen through. My concern with decals on the outside is that they would probably peel off or get damaged easily since the lines need to be super thin for this to look good. Another way to do it would be to apply the decals, then top it with 3M film. That might look a bit lumpy though. Regardless, getting the decals made should be easy enough. I don't see that as being the issue for this design to work.

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 14037584

How about a decal on the rear reflector plus a coat of 3M protectant?

POST 36Original post

I don't want to muck up the reflector on my C4S so I'd get a spare in order to experiment... but at $669 + shipping + brokerage fees + exchange rate + taxes/duties to Canada it ain't cheap! http://suncoastparts.com/product/SKU9962C4SREF.html On a related note, interesting short piece on the evolution of the 911's rear reflector: http://philipraby.co.uk/porsche-911-...y-in-pictures/ IMO the 996 C4S reflector looks the best... but I'm obviously biased

POST 37Original post

This is an ancient thread but I'm hoping there's still some life. I'm thinking about debadging my C4S and I like the idea of "PORSCHE" lettering in or on the heckblende like on the 993. Anyone done this recently? Any sources/photos less than 5 years old?

POST 38Original post

Give me the dimensions and I could try making a sticker. I have the Porsche font.

POST 39Original post

As 91One said many moons ago, anybody have a spare, broken, scratched up, no-longer-usable, one laying around, I'd love to get it to experiment with.
