I just did this repair on my 04 and while searching for the best deal searched at DCAuto who I highly recommend if going preowned route.

Does anyone know the correct part # for the 1999 Door latch cable without that white clip at the door panel end. 996-537-320-03 will not attach to my panel??? I'm wondering if I need a Boxster part??

I just did this repair on my 04 and while searching for the best deal searched at DCAuto who I highly recommend if going preowned route. They will list if part is superseded and years affected. I put 1999 986 and 996 in the search and both came up with 99653732003 for the part..no succeeding. I would send a picture of yours to them and see if they have a 99 car to compare. It’s possible to use without the white mounting clasp but will fail…maybe why yours did. It’s not two pieces but looks like so in the picture so there could have been another version. Sorry could not be more helpful
