I used the same kit from 914rubber, very clear and appears to be much more crisp than the OEM that developed dead sections.

If you are lucky it was the nubber connection to the LCD.

My climate control display was starting to fail, and 914Rubber has a solution at a reasonable price to replace your LCD screen rather than spending several hundred dollars for a new unit, as Porsche doesnt offer a replacement screen.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I have an extra set of the instrument cluster screens that I bought to replace my original ones (but as noted in my previous post, the problem went away).
I just wanted to give a shout-out to DHC8Fo (Mark) at 914Rubber

I took me about an hour to complete the job. It looks better than the original display when it was working.
Thanks Mark!
I also used the kit from 914Rubber. it works well and was an easy job to do. Only issue I have, may be unrelated, is that my HVAC screen flashes several times upon starting the engine. I've seen others with that same flashing screen issue but I haven't seen any solutions to it so far. I'm not sure if that issue it because of the screen replacement or due to an activation test I did in Durametric around the same time.
Here is what the screen looks like from 914Rubber: Install is pretty easy, the instructions are pretty straight forward, and I had no issues. It really is easier than you'd think it would be for replacing a LCD screen.
Thanks James, looks pretty close to the original which is great! I saw some older 'Audi' style ones which were way off! Like this one:
Good to know there are replacements that are close to the original.
I see most people struggling with the delamination issue, but mine has a bunch of active pixels that started when the weather was really cold. It appears to be changing, but they haven't gone away entirely. Is this the beginning of the LCD panel failure or something else?
yes the glass holding the liquid crystal is becoming delaminated. Sorry only solution is replacing. At least its not too expensive.
BTW the bulb should be shipping with the 944/951/928 LCDs. Not sure why you got one but its a bonus.
Just did the LCD screen replacement from 914 Rubber. Great instructions and took about 45 minutes, taking my time. Excellent results!
Could probably do it in half the time if doing it again.
Mine had this problem as well from the cold, but in the instrument cluster. Interestingly enough, after several months it went away completely and has not come back.
I have an extra set of the instrument cluster screens that I bought to replace my original ones (but as noted in my previous post, the problem went away). Cost me $100 for all 3 screens, but it was a while ago.
the unlit segments are from lack of contact or delamination.. If you are lucky it was the nubber connection to the LCD.
Its not really a question of if, its more when. Vibration, moisture, expansion and contraction are the enemy of the LCD. Keep the car in a climate controlled garage you can stretch its lifespan significantly.
