Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Y'all, I'm a newbie in the forum & recent owner (3-weeks now) of a 1998, 996 C2 3.4L, Tiptronic, in speed yellow. I has 10K miles when bought, recently serviced @Porsche center. It runs GREAT, feels like new? Interior: black in pristine condition. All other, bone stock except installed Kenwood DDX7034BT & Mio GPS system.
Thank you for the welcome, Gents..
Been fortunate to drive one and can't get rid of the grin every after a drive..it's my daily ride now, unlike some 2nd, 3rd cars owners out there...sure wanna make the investment worthwhile
[ivangene] the bumper, the parking sensors, you mean?
[kent] that's the real bummer, but of I were to spend it in the US, I'd be driving a 2010 Carrera 4S
Nice porsche. How much did you pay for your 98 in US dlrs? I bought mine here in the philippines and I paid 55k in U.S dlrs. Mine is a 2000 c2/6speed/litronics/ROW/sunroof delete
Airrik, you're correct. The production year (VIN #) indicates it's a (late) 1998 production for Rest of World (ROW). I believe, the US received those early 996 models in 1999, hence 1999 models. My car, arrived in Indonesia in 2000, so it is registered as a 2000 car (production date 1998).
Airrik.
Panski is correct when he states that ROW usually get their models earlier thatn the US. That's why they have to pay more that we do!
Porsche prices around the world
Man I love yellow.... You need to add some flat black or red to it. A red "carrara" on the bottom of the doors would be neet.
If it was an Areo I would red and yellow checker the wing.... But its not... Poop. That color screams dress me up and take me out and abuse me!
I like yellow if you didnt notice
Congrats on your new ride! Welcome to the forum... I started out telling myself it was a weekend car... but held to that for about a week... Great car as a DD.
Rudy
Yes, i thought so, but dont see those very often.. COOL!
and Pete and I are shipping our cars, anyone else want to go in on a container full of P-cars heading to Indonesia??
Cars are very cheap because of duties and taxes associateed with cars in the US. Its the import duties that add to the cost of cars in the rest of the world. You are exempt from that only if you are a citizen moving back to your home country and actual duty exemptions apply differently.
Again, thank you all and sure are overwhelmed by the kind welcome...this sure adds to the enjoyable (shared) experience(s) of owning an apparently much desired automobile there is..
Happy to report that the 'yellow color' has certainly grows in me these past few weeks and the recent extra 1/2 hour earlier morning departure routines much more...effortless
One of the things I miss at night when it's a lot of point and shoot concerning dead skids is being able to manage vehicle position awareness. Dark cars in the dark of night and especially rain throws me off. I just can't seem to push the car as hard as I would the old yellow.
I like the color of your car.
On the dot!! Jakarta's population by day 7.5 million, @night 5.5 mio. The 125cc motorcycles, GAZZILLIONS. Get the most of 'driving'..WEEKEND.
If you can drive and survive here, ANYWHERE ELSE is a walk in a park
panski, the front headlight tints look ok; the air intake kit, is it allowing hot engine bay air to be introduced to the intake? and be careful with the oiled filter, it can foul the MAF.
now about the exhaust tips...........
someone is having WAY too much fun !!
looking good !
Personaly the exhaust tips need something... they look way wrong and out of possition, not a K&N fan, the headlights would be illegal here, but I like them WAY better than the ambers, tail lights look good too are they LED? - LOVE the floor mats!!!
dont know what that black ?bird bath? is in the rear window (sorry, not a radio fan
)
ya gotta fix those tip though - otherwise
those exhaust tips are way wrong! they are made for mk2 cars... buy fly996 tips, though he may not ship outside of the US. Good job on the mods! Did you put on the KW yet?
As for the scheme... it reminds me of this...
Ha..ha..it's a tool to keep my heart thumpings when I'm stuck in Jakarta's traffic
Had the headlight tints put on yesterday morning...They do dimmed down the 6000K HID kit, tonite... Noted on the MAF issue, thanks.
Thanks and YES the tips are way wrong. I just had them put on because they came w/ the exhaust system (and still shiny), while I'm getting the stock tips to be ceramic-coated, BLACK of course
Yay someone dug it...ha ha, thanks Ferd... No, I'm still waiting for Rich to email me some pictures of the KW V3 and the serial/part no.
I HOPE YOU DID NOT ADD BRIGHTER HEADLIGHT BULBS!!!!
there is a really BIG reason NOT to do this !!!!!
the inner lens is PLASTIC and brighter bulbs will MELT it!! If you put in brighter bulbs I suggest removing them ASAP or sooner!
The yellow is excellent. I had a 64 MGB roadster in high school days with the same color. The lighter color was excellent for knowing where the car is for powering through corners in dead skids at night.
I don't see why others don't have a porsche as a daily driver. It's a fricking car made to drive. I guess others are still living through having to put their toys away till its time to play. Pour guys hehehe. Great car and I agree the cars are made to be driven not pampered.
I agree, and the curve on the MK I rear bumper is oval which would fit the Tequipment tips Fly996 is selling, I think Panski had similar ones which he's coating in black, which should match Pika-chu...
