Then she was given some kind of designer clip as a freebee that is basically the same thing, but a lot lower profile -- probably less than 1/4" in height -- and I was shocked she put it up for me to use on the visor and has left it there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking for a way to store my regular glasses while driving. I want something convenient. I don't find the door pocket useful because it'a just big pit full of whatever, and I don't think the center console storage compartment is terribly convenient either. The center cubby only half works because they will fly out of there during spirited maneuvers. I don't know how it is in cabs or coupes but the sun visors on my targa already intrude into the top of the windscreen, so I'm not crazy about hanging something from them either. Okay I guess I'm fussy. But does anyone have other ideas/solutions? I searched the forum and googled and came up pretty dry.

POST 2Original post

I keep a glasses case in the centre console. Prescription driving glasses are left on dash. Prescription sun glasses are kept in case. Glasses are swapped as necessary. I do this in my daily and my boat.

POST 3Original post

I have a Targa with the console delete, so even less space. I stick them in the door pocket. I know it's not what you want, but it's convenient, padded, and most people have no idea it's there.

If all you want to do is put your glasses in it, consider putting some cushioning and/or a folded a towel into the door pocket to make it less of a 'big pit'. Alternatively, if you've seen those mobile phone holders that clip into the vents; they make glasses holders that do the same, for example Amazon Amazon

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought about the small clip style of holder but I distrust their ability to hold onto my glasses. I can see my glasses flying loose on a sharp, bumpy, exuberantly executed corner. I already have that happening when I put them in the central cubby. I guess I'm spoiled by my other cars. They have either a built-in glasses holder, a convenient cupholder, or a small door pocket that doesn't swallow things whole. In those cars I can switch from one pair to the other in a flash. One thing I'm considering is a flip-open case in the center, above the rear view mirror, between the sun visors. I could clip a case on there and I don't think it would interfere with the targa roof operation. Problem with that is that I haven't found a decent quality case. The amazon selection all have a very high percentage of negative reviews. Rattling, falling apart quickly, that kind of thing. A quality piece would be very attractive.

POST 6Original post

Any chance you can just pop them on the top of your head ?

I have something like that in the Macan and it works great.

I honestly don't know. It is the most attractive alternative to me at the moment, assuming I can't find a decent case. Does it hold securely? It looked to me as though it was just a magnet holding the two sides together.

I think the one pictured and the one I have is spring loaded, it holds it very securely. The lower profile the clip is, the better. I bought some plastic visor clips off amazon that were a little bit bulky, and my wife kept taking it down because she felt like it (plus my sunglasses) was in her way when she was driving. Then she was given some kind of designer clip as a freebee that is basically the same thing, but a lot lower profile -- probably less than 1/4" in height -- and I was shocked she put it up for me to use on the visor and has left it there. The other one was probably 3/4", but that tiny bit makes a big difference in making the clip/glasses less intrusive. The clip I have is lower profile than the one pictured in @Dr_Strangelove 's post -- I'd post a link to mine, but I don't know where she got it. This one looks like it might be pretty good ( Amazon Amazon ). This one IS a magnet -- no experience with this or any magnet-based clip, but the reviews seem to be pretty good.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went ahead and amazon'd the one pictured by @peterp . It works pretty well! I went for a long drive yesterday, including some spirited bits, and they stayed in place well. Ideally I'll find a decent quality clip-on case that fits between the visors, but in the meantime this is a good solution. Just be sure to put your glasses in 180 degrees from the way they are in my pictures so they don't flop down the very first time you hit the brakes... Strong magnet holds glasses securely. Fat earpieces are a no-go however. Also put your glasses in the other way around, doh! Nice long clip on opposite side. There's sufficient room on my targa that they don't press against the windshield when the visor is in use.

POST 12Original post

I (apparently) put my prescription glasses under the driver's seat. Perfectly safe there, but you probably don't want tom have to remove the seat every time you want them back. Otherwise, the pocket in the door panel works well, too. Generally, I just keep the open door pockets free from stuff. Can't you just remove stuff?

POST 13Original post

DARN! Once upon a time there was a tread here titled "Where do you put your cellphone". I was hoping this was another one of those... No such luck!😜

I actually saw that thread come up in my googling. It is the definition of "off the rails". Hey, the thread is still young.

POST 16Original post

I just keep a microfiber cloth in the door pocket and wrap my glasses in that when I'm not wearing them. I used to have one of those visor clips too and it worked well.
