Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Cleaned my MAF, no CEL for awhile and then it came back with O2 codes.
Leading evidence: 'Clean maf, no cel' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check here' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I too had O2 sensor codes and replaced both on the driver's side.

Suggestion
I'd try logging each individually at rest and checking the temps at the same time to see if that is abnormal too.

I'll clean the MAF and air filter and report back.

Suggestion
Problem is that I don't know much about cars and even though I can find instructions and advice from the internet community such as yourselves on where to buy and even how to change (which I can do), I don't know enough on how to diagnose what the problem is in the first place :-(.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I started pricing driver's side o2 sensors, due to throwing CEL with codes P0140 & P0139. Here's what I've found so far:
Porsche Dealer Kansas City: $500+
Suncoast Porsche: $370
Pelican Parts: $130 after cat, ? before cat
Pelican's are Bosch brand. Are OEM made by Bosch too? Where have you purchased the sensors?
Depends of course on the year and model of your 911, but for a '99 S2, Try amazon....
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
$101 and $80 each. Bosch OE, free shipping and no tax. $362 for all 4 to your doorstep.
Only a guess due to the codes I read from my durametric. It could be that the wire(s) are bad or disconnected, but I doubt it. I've been given advice to replace them in pairs per side, so before and after cat as a pair. I'm open to suggestions on diagnosing though. Perhaps it's a dirty MAF?
Thanks for the info. Guess you can find anything on amazon these days.
PMed you.
I too had O2 sensor codes and replaced both on the driver's side. Still got a CEL. Cleaned my MAF, no CEL for awhile and then it came back with O2 codes. Bought a new MAF off ebay and all is well now. FYI
Good idea. I'll clean the air filter (evoms vflow system) and MAF, clear the codes w/ durametric and see what happens. Then if still comes on... hmmm, spend $$ on sensors first? Or MAF first?
What year is car and mileage?
O2 sensors are supposed to last a long time.
MAF not as long.
All my O2 codes have been MAF related and fixed with cleaning MAF.
BTW, the Bosch part numbers I listed here are for my 02 996, MKII.
They may be different for the MKI, one would have to check.
They are DEFINITELY different for the 996 Turbo.
My O2 codes were due to bad O2 connectors. Not knowing this I bought multiple O2s without fixing the issue. I finally decided to bypass the connector and viola...the code disappears.
Sorry for being a noob, despite owning my C4 for the past 7 years, I guess O2 is the air sensor? Coincidentally mine just died and I just paid approx USD$900 for Porsche to replace it. My car's 9 yrs old and I'm wondering if it's about the average life of the sensor.
Aside [I may start a different topic for this]: Reason I'm asking this question is cos for the past 5 months I've been pumping quite a bit of cash into my car as misc parts failing, such as alternator, CV boot cuts, even steering lock, and this week was my air sensor - I've pumped in close to prob $4000 in fixing these things. I've got a 2001 C4 convertible.
Most parts cost a lot less when purchased from
http://www.suncoastparts.com/
. Occassionally, though, parts can be found for much less, for example the O2 (oxygen sensor), from various vendors mentioned in the replies above.
Year 2000. Mileage on body is 50k. Mileage on engine (Porsche Reman due to IMS problems) is approximately 25k.
50k on original cats.
---
I appreciate everybody's input here. I'll clean the MAF and air filter and report back.
my cats went on 45K.... if you take the o2 off and turn the cats upside down... if crap starts falling out of the cats through the o2 sensor hole... its a good chance your cats are bad or gonna go bad soon.
Porsche Japan's probably making a killing outta me. Problem is that I don't know much about cars and even though I can find instructions and advice from the internet community such as yourselves on where to buy and even how to change (which I can do), I don't know enough on how to diagnose what the problem is in the first place :-(. As such I'm still at Porsche Japan's mercy.
Update:
MAF & EVOMS air filter cleaned. CELs cleared w/ Durametric. I logged values for 02 sensors via Durametric twice for approximately 10 minutes each time with speeds from 10MPH - 90MPH including WOT. Based on the data below, it appears I just need a pair of bank 1 sensors. Do you concur? As far as I can tell (hitting cat w/ rubber mallet) the cat is fine bank 1.
O2 sensor voltage ahead of cat. conv.
0-.82
O2 sensor voltage behind cat. conv.
.45-.45
(yes correct)
O2 sensor resistance ahead of c. c. bank 1
0-256
O2 sensor resistance behind c. c. bank 1
0-0
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
O2 sensor voltage ahead of cat. c. bank 2
0-.88
O2 sensor voltage behind cat. conv. bank 2
0-.83
O2 sensor resistance ahead of c. c. bank 2
0-256
O2 sensor resistance behind cat. c. bank 2

Some place in the durametric instructions or website they say using it during driving isn't recommended or something like that. Maybe it gives irregular data when driving. I could understand that with the extra info pouring out of the brain during driving and the way durametric says responces slow with multiple live data running. I'd try logging each individually at rest and checking the temps at the same time to see if that is abnormal too. Could mean you have a loose sensor with flames adding extra heat.
I'm a little confused on the ver5 and ver6 beta. Ver6 beta doesn't seem to have cam deviation or at least listed as such.
Thanks for the advice.
Off Topic:
Yeah, I can't get Ver6 beta to work on either my (MY2000) or my father's (MY1999) DME. The UI locks up / unresponsive when trying to read DME. I'm working w/ Durametric to send them log files. Thing is, the directories are obfuscated.
