Suggestion

If you are dropping the rear subframes (I did not), you would need to do this, or disconnect from the parking brake itself, but not sure why they recommend doing it for other parts.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since it's my first time to remove rear suspension components I'm wondering why is it necessary to loose those cables completely from the cabin compartment. At least Bentley instructs on many cases that it's needed to remove even that turnbuckle with cables. I would understand it was enough just to loose the cables by removing those two nuts but what's the reason to remove those cables from that turnbuckle as well? Is it required to remove the cable completely if you remove those major suspension components?

POST 3Original post

Because the work shop manual probably says to remove the upright. To remove the upright its actually easier to remove the cable frim the inside instead of disassembling the entire e-brake to release the cable from the drum assembly. U can do the shocks and every other part without removing the upright so u can ignore this step.
