The bolt/nut is now somewhat rounded as well as corroded so I was wondering how difficult it is to replace the whole hard line that goes to the front.

The drivers side was much difficult as it was much more corroded - even the metal thing that's is connected to suspension/side panel is corroded - and yes, I was using flare nut wrench with a lot of CRC rust free and Frost Flash Pro.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I managed to get passenger side brake line out (that's connected to the hard line that goes towards the front). The drivers side was much difficult as it was much more corroded - even the metal thing that's is connected to suspension/side panel is corroded - and yes, I was using flare nut wrench with a lot of CRC rust free and Frost Flash Pro. The bolt/nut is now somewhat rounded as well as corroded so I was wondering how difficult it is to replace the whole hard line that goes to the front. It's routed through the underside quite easily but then near the front wheel it goes up. How difficult is that last part - is it enough to remove the front wheel liner and/or the plastic panel in the front trunk that is around the brake fluid reservoir and then detach the hard line?

POST 2Original post

The brake line goes to the fender connecror "block" . Pull the inner fender, head light and headlight mount. This will give u real good access. None of these items r hard to remove and give u the best access without removing the fender. Depending on were it goes into the block will determine how hard it is to remove.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks - are there any pictures of that area or the process itself?

POST 4Original post

U know i screwed up i thought front. I see u said rear lines. The left side rear is very easy to get to. There is a junction under the left side plastic panel under the car. There is no liner to remove.

POST 5Original post

Pretty sure all the hard brake line nuts are torqued to 20NM (15ft/lb). Protect surfaces from brake fluid, some will drip, no matter how careful you are. Hardest part will be to get flare wrench to break the old line free if you’re referring to part 996 355 189 xx, the line before the flex line that’s before the caliper u-shaped line.
