Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Does this require an entire alignment, or are just the tie rods adjusted somehow?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I installed a new steering wheel (Raid 340 Race) and the alignment of top center was a little off. The centering band lined up with around the 5 on the tach when driving straight. So I reinstalled and moved the wheel one spline over the other direction (I think I only moved one spline over, but now I wonder if that would make that much of a change. It is difficult to tell.) Now the alignment is off center a bit the other way. Not quite as much, but still off. Is there another variable/adjustment somewhere that can be tweaked to line the wheel up to dead center? I don't see any adjustment in the hub or connection of the wheel to the hub.

Thanks, but can you elaborate? Does this require an entire alignment, or are just the tie rods adjusted somehow? Sorry, I'm not well versed in this area.

POST 4Original post

Yes, it will require the full front wheel alignment. Probably not the answer you want but I don't know other ways. Basically they put a lock to center your steering wheel, then go to align the front wheels so they point straight (with toe-in of course).

Thanks, it is exactly the answer I wanted, (the correct one). Now I know how to proceed. Thanks.

POST 6Original post

Assuming your front wheels are properly aligned to start, you may not need to re-align if you're careful with your adjustment(s). Just mark your tie rod ends and make sure you turn each side in the same direction and the same amount and you should be ok.

POST 7Original post

I recently had a professional alignment on my 996 turbo X50. The car now pulls sligntly to the right. the steering wheel sits about 15 degrees to the right. Right turn signal won't shut off unless steering wheel is over corrected to the left. Should I realign the steering wheel?

POST 8Original post

U should take it back to the place that did a "professional" alignment and have them fix the issue. If u have psm it will cause all kinds of issues with the traction control if the wheel is not centered with the psm sensor.

NO, take it back, they goofed on something...( don't let them "re-align" the steering wheel, the alignment needs to be done correctly)
