Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The best way to measure is like the picture above shows, but if the tires are mounted, you have to use a "special rim caliper tool" to measure the width and subtract the rim lip thickness or use some straight edges/2x4 and lots of measuring..

They use the same casting for the spokes on the 9" wide and 10" wide wheels, if 10" wide will be the "A" part number, just measure the width.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a set of hollow spoke wheels that I. Going to sell but I can't figure out why there are an A and B part number on it with different sizes...pics below:

POST 2Original post

They use the same casting for the spokes on the 9" wide and 10" wide wheels, if 10" wide will be the "A" part number, just measure the width.

So when installing youd have to be aware they look the same from the front and need to confirm proper wheels went in their proper spots?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow...that is the craziest thing I have heard....what is the best way to measure?

POST 5Original post

Well, the front are 7.5 and 8.0 wide, very easy to tell from a 10.0 rear. The 9.0 rear was for the 944, but if you a set of 9" and 10" with same size/brand tires, you would have to look closely or measure..lol

POST 6Original post

Some reading material: http://www.thecartech.com/KnowYourCa...erminology.htm You can tell visually between 9 and 10" wheel...

POST 7Original post

The "A" has been marked with an X in your second photo, so 10" rears. I don't see photos of your fronts. Those things are definitely lighter though.

What's also crazy is they cast the spokes separate, then they are "friction welded" to the barrels. Was a fairly new technology then, and why they cost so much. The best way to measure is like the picture above shows, but if the tires are mounted, you have to use a "special rim caliper tool" to measure the width and subtract the rim lip thickness or use some straight edges/2x4 and lots of measuring..
