Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

These bikes (current model) will put out 190+ HP, run the quarter at about 150mph in 9 seconds.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My buddy picked up a 04 turbo cab recently and let me drive it.
What a mistake on my part, I knew if I drove it, I would love it. Sure enough this was the case. I can't get over the acceleration of the turbo, when I jumped back in my car it felt so slow. I know my car is more than enough for me, but........How long does it take to get over it?
A cheap and easy solution is to look for a Suzuki GXSR1000 or Yamaha R1 a few years old. These bikes (current model) will put out 190+ HP, run the quarter at about 150mph in 9 seconds. This will fix your need for speed.
That is until you get one on the track and learn how to ride, lol.
Boost is VERY intoxicating. And this is coming from somebody who loves the GT3 more than anything in this world.
I'd like to see somebody pass me in the their stock Carrera.
Given equal drivers and stock trim [or equal trim], the Turbo should always win. Not a contest really. That being said, I've passed a few in my C2 as my car was not stock, and the drivers were not equal.
For a street car with very limited (none) track duty, the turbo is a winner. But on the track, there is no other street car like the GT3.

Taking a test drive in a Turbo or a GT3 has been known cause sudden behavorial changes in otherwise stable and reasonably contented Porsche drivers. At least, that was my experience
I've tossed around the idea of a turbo, but I can't help but think that the 997 C2S wouldn't be almost as fast for about the same money while getting a newer car. Am I crazy or misguided here?
If you think 415bhp and 4XXlb ft of torque in a 3400lb car is very fast, you haven't really ever driven a fast car.
Sure it may get to 60 fairly quick, but it ain't fast until it gets to a 100 in less than 8 seconds.
Its a moderate quick car, nothing more.
Good luck doing 0-100 in less than 8 seconds in a stock car without spending a LOT of money. If the 996TT isn't fast enough for you stock, you can always invest a few thousand dollars in a chip and exhaust and get 500hp+ easily. Gotta love turbos.
Um, a corvette Z06 and dodge viper both get there in about 8 seconds. A 997.2TT gets there in about 7 seconds.
yes. A stock 996TT is not THAT fast. Its a moderately quick car these days. Its performance was obviously more impressive when it was released. For reference, my 993TT is glacial, even with a turbo S ecu.
Gee with enough money in modifications, I can make a crown victoria faster than a veyron.
I dont know about the crown vic being faster than a Veyron but WOW that 996TT in the vid is nutso. Shifing in the first four gears is faster than my NA in the first two. WOW!
Just keep in mind that maintenance will cost you about twice what a n/a Porsche will cost you. There is much more disassembly and reassembly of components, complexity, not to mention more parts, than a good 996 or 997.
I disagree completely.
With the exception of major repairs, doing standard maintenance on a TT is not that big a deal. yes, a few things are more complex, but nothing terribly shocking.
Twice as much is a vast exaggeration.
But yes, you have to pay to play.
Upgrading a forced-induction car is simpler and cheaper than upgrading the NA version of it. A 996 Turbo may not be fast by today's standards (IMO, I think it is), but it does not take as much to bring it up to today's standards than the NA version. An exhaust and ECU software will bring a 996 Turbo within 997.1 Turbo radar -- that's less than $5,000. The GT1 block should be able to handle 600hp before a major investment in engine work needs to be made. I think that says alot. It says even more that the 997.1 Turbo uses pretty much the same block, albeit different top-end and turbos.
You'd get to diminishing returns MUCH quicker in bringing a 996 Carrera up to today's standards than a 996 Turbo.

If a 996 Turbo is not fast by today's standards, then what does that say about a 996 Carrera...
Just had a bit of a nosy on Craiglist and it looks to me like the Turbos cost the same as GT3s..ie low 50K. Twice what my C2 cost me.
The GT3 is kind of a no brainer .... for me anyway.
