Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I will be replacing my whole rear deck lid with one from another 996 due to some spoiler issues.......just cheaper this way. Is there a diy or anything special to remove the entire rear "trunk" so to speak?

POST 2Original post

Nope. Just some wires and bolts. You need 2 people. It will take a little adjusting to get the clearances.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! Any harm in pulling the rear spoiler fuse for the time being? I'm going on a trip and it goes up totally crooked So looks awful and probably doesn't help

POST 4Original post

There are four bolts, 2 at each hinge that connect to the rear deck lid. Remove these four bolts and the decklid will simply come off. I've done this multiple times by myself without any issues, you should have no problem.

POST 5Original post

Some pictures here that might help you out. https://picasaweb.google.com/misha99...fgl=true&pli=1

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks so much I appreciate the pics Wow, doesn't seem bad at all. Seems even easier replacing the entire "trunk" in fact. I will be fine removing that spoiler fuse for a while though? I won't be racing, just a long highway trip in the 70-80mph range

No issue. I have done it before as well.
