Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Everyone,
My engine is due back next month and I would like to get a head start on ordering parts to replace upon re-installation of my engine. I am looking to complete the list of necessary parts and I am not looking for 'while you are in there' ones. I would like to have everything I need to do the install and start it up - nothing missed! Please see my list below and thank you in advance for the help.
Coolant
Exhaust header gasket
Power steering fluid
Clutch slave cylinder (thanks to scumbag tow truck driver)
Fuel pump (as per Jake Raby)
I feel like I have to be missing something. Luckily, nothing else broke and all of the hardware came off perfectly. Please let me know if you guys think of anything else that should be added to the list. I would like to order the parts this week.
Thanks! - Mason
The coolant tank is a mandate.. Only use a Genuine Porsche replacement.
The MAF would be a great choice to replace as well.
The engine will come with exhaust gaskets, AOS, and more. You'll be given a checklist as we close in on completion.
Hi Jake! Thank you so much for the response. I thought I would be on the hook for the exhaust gaskets for sure. I was considering a coolant tank and the MAF on my car is new.
I await your checklist. Hopefully parts are not taking too long to come in due to the pandemic.
Lastly, in response to Mike Murphy, I am lucky to have a car with little to no corrosion around the exhaust components. This is nice since I have changed the mufflers 3 or 4 times in good time haha.
I dont know if these are on Jakes list, but his collaborator Charles

recommends changing fuel injectors after a rebuild, along with the MAF and upstream O2 sensors.
Excellent. That should makes things easy for me. I look forward to going over the list of parts I will need with you.
Luckily the MAF is newer Porsche part and the 02 sensors & fuel filter is brand new.
Cool. Once the engine is finished, we'll go over the next steps, prior to shipping. My longest time engine builder was assigned to your build, and it takes him about a week longer to complete his work than everyone else. He's still on schedule with the engine ahead of yours, which will be done by the end of August, then you are next, and he won't stop till it's finished. We'll be done right on time.
I'm in the same boat but have a longer destination and wait time. Can't wait for my birthday present from FSI in February!
I wanted to go 4.0 so badly, but would need to sell my currently running motor first.
