Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

not sure what that connector is, but probably a standard bosch weatherproof type that perhaps your local electrical/automotive store might have a replacement or a pin repair kit for.

You can check ebay for a new connector - most of the ones that come from China usually come with a set of connectors to recrimp the wires to.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I checked all the wires they are all good. Just this one spot. The wire is detached from the plug. Is there a way to remove the pouch alone and attach the new white wire then reinstall?
Image attached. I am going to properly splice a new piece of white wire. I purchased the proper tool
and correct wire. I dont want to destroy the plug trying to remove the wire connector. Can someone offer some insight. Looks like a straightforward job and once I learn to do it I have no doubt it will be. Right now I could use some help.
thank you
you can buy a pin removal kit on ebay or elsewhere for small $. what you get are super-skinny metal toothpick looking things.
if you look at your connector from the other end you will see a metal male or female connector for each wire. they are held into the plastic housing by a little metal tab on the metal connector. push the pin removal tool in between the metal connector and the plastic housing from the front (ie, not the side you have pictured) to depress the tab and pull the metal connector out.
once you have the metal connector out you have to get the old wire off and put your new wire in, then reinsert. if you have enough wire hanging out perhaps you can just splice back together.
lots of opportunity for things to break or get wrecked. not sure what that connector is, but probably a standard bosch weatherproof type that perhaps your local electrical/automotive store might have a replacement or a pin repair kit for.
I have been building professional sound systems for my 30+ year career. At one point I was certified to solder military spec. That said I'm really confident in my soldering skills.
I would cut the boot back on the connector to expose some copper on the white/black wire. I would also trim back the jacket on the bundled wires. From there it would be soldering in a short cable. Heat shrink on both ends and then heat shrink over all of it.
As I say that I recognize you may not have all the soldering and heatshrink tools.
What wire did you get? I'm happy to continue the conversation.
You can buy repair wires from VW that have the correct terminal already crimped in place to a short piece of wire. Presumably Porsche offer the same thing though I haven't checked.
To get the terminal out of the housing you need to look at the other end. There are two tiny slots next to the terminal. Push the terminal further into the housing, push two metal pieces into the slots, pull old terminal from the housing.
These are Junior Power Timer connectors. You'll also find Power Timer and Micro Power Timer connectors in the car in various places. You can google up "Junior Power Timer Connector Disassembly".
The connector gets pushed out from the front of the plug and the re-inserted from the back once it's fixed. These are the tools you need (or similar)
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben.../025682sch01a/
Once you've removed the connector you may be able to just solder it back together. Short of that you'll need to get the right connector (make sure it's the same as the one you removed or it may not fit in the housing)... Good luck
I am not sure if this will work or if it is just totally improper. I know nothing about electricity. If I need to source new parts I will if I can figure out the part number.
There were actually two bad wires. I cut each wire and crimp connected a male and female connector to each wire and attached them. I sliced some shrink tubing and covered the work then fastened it with tie wraps. This is where I am currently. I though it would be best to post this to see if I am screwing this up and should just order new parts if I can figure out the part numbers or stay the course and get everything insulated and electrical taped.
Just to be sure we all know what I am dealing with this caused the code in the top image.
I will post a few pictures to see if it helps.
I will not be insulted if someone tells me I am going about this all wrong. I don’t want to cause harm
to the car and I would like a repair that will past and be reliable.
thank you,
brian
You can check ebay for a new connector - most of the ones that come from China usually come with a set of connectors to recrimp the wires to. So you use the tool set to remove the pins, use a new connector for the broken wire and push them all back into the new plug.
After seeing more pix and hearing from other folks here replacing the connector seems like the right thing to do. My original thought of soldering would be challenging.
Didn't someone say you can buy a connector with wires attached? I also thought that Pelican Parts had something that could work. What part are you stuck on?
I think you can do this. Hang in there.
Looks like you are well on you way here. Very good.
When I use those solder crimps I use a heat shrink gun.
What do you have that will melt it, but not burn the outside? Curious what they recommend.
