Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check level' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check level' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all from Covid free New Zealand
I bought my very first Porsche 2 weeks ago at 56 years old, so I spent Sunday replacing engine mounts, doing the red cap resonator block, fixing the Becker coffer cup holder, and generally getting to know the lay of the land.
I also pulled the exhaust cans to be 'Fistered' locally, but
after
pulling them off, i then pulled the bumper to give my fat belly more room to work next weekend.
She's a 2002 996.2 C2 Tip with a full service history and 180,000kms. It's all there, and all as Mr Porsche intended; I intend to keep it as stock as possible because I believe the designers got most of it right first time.
Trying to track down some DT40 on this side of the planet, so I can do the oils and filters.
I have a really small weep on the 12" long plastic shrouded driveshaft? that runs from the front of the tranny backwards to the diff, but I cannot find a whole lot of information on this, as its not part of the diff or tranny microfiches.
Sold my other 4 wheelers to commit to using her as a daily driver; last week, I got 'lost' and took 100 miles to get the 5 miles home!
I have really enjoyed snooping around on here; there are some genuine good sorts helping us noobies out.
Cheers, Tim
or you can try to suck some out first. Same hole...suck fill, check level. GL4/5 75W90 gear oil.
If you want to empty it, take the side off the diff. Only holds about 1 litre, or a quart if you can't do metric.
Mines a late model 996 (Turbo tranny) so its got a drain plug on the diff.
There is a 14mm allen drain plug for the transaxle on my 03 tip. And the fill plug was 8mm, not 10. Drained and refilled the other day. Put in Royal Purple Maxgear 75w-140 w/friction modifiers. Seems to be smoother than before. I have 114K on it, don't know how old the fluid was, or what kind was in it.
