Before I go use a dremel to F it all up, is there any other suggestions to get it to fit?

Any good ideas, should I use some high heat glue to attach it or something?

Use some high-heat silicone and tape it on with some painters tape.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Guys,
I just picked up a nice condition "Taco" style aero wing for my 1999 996 C2 - It fits great and the arctic silver paint some how matches my 21 year old paint perfectly - go figure. Everything worked out, but I've spent literally hours trying to fit the stock "snorkel" rubber gasket piece that fits into the deck lid that makes a seal with the plastic housing that leads into the stock intake box when the deck is closed. It took 5 seconds to pop off from the OEM deck lid, and nothing broke off. I notice however that the stock deck lid metal is much skinnier, and for some reason the bottom of one of the sides is a little thicker on this aftermarket one - I guess you get what you pay for. Before I go use a dremel to F it all up, is there any other suggestions to get it to fit? I've been able to get it on some times but then just falls when I drop the deck lid. I posted on a few other threads and two guys already mentioned they don't have theirs on, but one looks to have a nice aftermarket Fabspeed intake, so definitely not required, the other i'm still waiting to hear from.
I'd really like to keep the intake stock if possible, and I don't want to mess with any temperatures or lose performance in not having this attached. The guy prior to me also had a short ram intake without this fitted, so trying to understand if I even need it. Any good ideas, should I use some high heat glue to attach it or something?
thanks!
Jason
stock intake for me as i said in other thread. I guess the boot would clean things up a little. Might order one if i remember when ordering other stuff but deff not a priority.
Also since my lid is a factory porsche part i doubt it will have that thickness issie u r having.
yea you should be fine if its OEM, just these aftermarket ones are thicker. Thanks guys
Good call on the painters tape..I was trying to figure out how I was going to attached this thing while I was waiting for it to dry. I guess something like this will be good since I need the high heat right?-

That should work.
But my favorite for stuff like this (and for gaskets) is Permatex "The Right Stuff."

Once it is dry, it won't come loose easily.
Hmm Im looking at this more..if I take the rubber gasket thats supposed to connect to the under decklid and rest it on the plastic tube that goes into the stock air intake, it sits on that lip and doesnt move. it also actually creates a pretty close seal. Its lined up with the opening for the hole in the lid, and I can see from the top of the vent grills in the wing that when the lid is shut it lines up pretty spot on with the hole.
The question is, does it need to be sealed to really work well? Im guessing not, since its practically in line, and the after market intakes still use this to sort of direct air to the open filter, but its not exactly air tight or sealed closed or anything? Ill give the sealant a shot but the fact that I cant even really line it up without holding it in place, and even with taping it up, I dont know it will work, but now Im thinking, I wonder if it even matters
