I assume given that the sensor can be replaced with the engine in the car, that it is not that difficult to attach the proper fitting for an analog gauge test.

As noted in previous post, I am concerned about the accurancy of my oil pressure gauge which never gets above 4.3 bar. The sender has been replaced. My local indy believes that it's just the gauge (given that the previous owner replaced the gauge faces and likely screwed something up and we know that it does not quite read right - shows -0.3 bar ignition on / engine off). He does not have the connector to test the actual pressure with an analog gauge. My p-car dealer is taking appointments for mid-June, so I asked anothter local indy if they could test the oil pressure with an analog gauge. They came back an said it was quite an involved process due to where the gauge needs to be connected. Can anyone please indicate where and how hard it is to connect an analog gauge? Alternately, is there a test plan for the gauge cluster to check voltage to the gauge? The gauge appears to operate properly in terms responsiveness to changes in RPM.

The oil pressure sender is located on the cam cover for the 4-6 bank, between cylinders 5 and 6, at the top as shown on one of the attached photos (photo of the inside of the cam cover which has been removed from the engine). The sensor screws into a threaded hole in the cover. At the same spot on the cam cover for the 1-3 bank, at the top between cylinders, is another threaded hole which has a threaded plug in it. You can see this in the second picture. You could remove this plug and add an analog sensor. This was suggested to me once by Jake Raby when I was having erratic oil pressure readings and had replaced my sender. Actual cause of my problem was something else, and another story. Kind of a drastic thing to do but would give you an analog oil pressure reading all the time.

There are a few posts on replacing the sensor/sender. The trick is to get a crows foot wrench. However, to get the threaded plug out of the 1-3 cam cover would be more difficult. I think it is an allen wrench that is needed and access is really tight in there.
