Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, I'm sure this has been talked about before but my search skills failed me. Anyway, my driver side rear window neither rolls up or down right now. When I hit the button it sounds like the motor is activating and running for the appropriate amount of time. It makes this noise if I push the button up or down. The window does not go up or down. I can grab the window and pull it up manually about 1/2 way and then it gets too tough to pull. I'm guessing the window somehow got off track. Any other ideas? How difficult would something like this be to fix? Seems like I would need to pull off the panel and reseat the window. Thanks M

POST 2Original post

You must have a cab? I had a problem with the passenger side rear window. Taking it out is a bit of a pain. I sent mine to a shop in Phoenix, AZ to have it rebuilt for around $220. Better than new they say. Otherwise the regulator is a $700 part! Theres a couple of threads on it. Heres one: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...on-cabrio.html

Did the same thing with the kid cab, they have rebuilt the regulator with better parts on the P-car and the W123 Benz for me, the rear window was a PIA for him, teaching moment for me.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the instructions. Seems like it’s a PIA for lots of people. Looks like I should budget a full day. I can’t believe the new part is so expensive.
