Suggestion

I have to change #11 on the diagram (the bracket for the flap) because the original had a small broken piece which meant the flap did not close as it should.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On the 996, there are four rubber strips that run the length of the roof (long ways), 2 on the drivers side and 2 on the passenger side, between the two strips is a regular painted peice where you can tap in the roof accessories. Does anyone know the part # of these? I was trying to find them in PET, but I must not be looking at the right spot. Is this four strips, or 2 strips that look like its four?

POST 2Original post

Here you go! There is a right and left part number.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I saw that, but is it really 1 peice on the left and 1 peice on the right? Isn't it four thin strips?

POST 4Original post

No, the gasket is one piece per side. The painted strip, #7 in the pic, fits on top of the gasket. Here is a close up of the same page in the PET.

POST 5Original post

Reviving this old thread. I have to change #11 on the diagram (the bracket for the flap) because the original had a small broken piece which meant the flap did not close as it should. I have the new piece ($5 from dealer) and I have removed the old piece and flap. How do I get the new piece in? I have tried and do not think it can go in from outside. Do I have to remove the painted piece and gasket? If so, how does one do this? Are special tools required? Thanks in advance, I would hate to have to drive 3 hours round trip to go to the dealer to change a $5 bracket.

I have some of those brackets if you want, I can mail them to you for the cost of shipping. I had them go bad, they are white plastic, and snap into the colored flap no need to replace the colored flap part usually.

POST 7Original post

I may take you up on your offer but right now I want to know how actually change the bracket. Does the long strip (ie. #7) have to be removed? How?
