Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, with the current forecast, 6+ inches of snow, I decided on Sunday to put her to bed for the winter. Oil change, general clean-up, wipe-down, stabilz, trickle charger, car cover, jacked-it up, off the floor...... I was hoping to do the 100+ (?) P-car drive starting in Rye Playland NY, through, Bear Mountain and Hawks Nest, on Saturday, after turkey. Snow here tomorrow and more snow at Bear Mountain, on Saturday, ????........ All in all it was a great year, she behaved like a champ, now it is time to rest.......April will be here, just not soon enough........ I know there is a large contingent in here who enjoy driving their car all winter. Yes, these cars are fine in the snow. However, with all the crap on the roads, and I am OCD about keeping her clean, I just can't wrap my head around all the gravel, salt, impending potholes, etc., that she would be forced to encounter. Disappointed that it is over, hell yeah, but content to know that she is safe, all tucked in........... another great year comes to a close. Bummer...now a moment of silence a glass of single malt to celebrate another great season....she deserves that much, at least.

POST 2Original post

Scott.....I'll do a toast to your steed when I'm home from work tonight. I have been without a Pcar now for almost 2 months but like you, Spring can't come soon enough. By then we will both be back in the driver's seat. Happy Thanksgiving!

POST 3Original post

Had a nice stiff drink last night for both of you, and now it's time to shed a tear.

POST 4Original post

You poor, poor people. Had the top down until last night. Got a little chilly (mid-sixties) so I closed her up. I'll have a drink to all my fellow snowed in Rennlister's on Turkey Day, while I sit on my patio smoking a stogie. It's gonna be 82.

POST 5Original post

Cheers. 86 down here yesterday.... Season just getting started haha... Scott, any projects left to keep you occupied over the winter?

POST 6Original post

Unless there is snow on the road, I drive my car all winter. The heat works great, and driving on a sunny 25 degree day is awesome!

POST 7Original post

Why put the car away when there are still some nice days even during Winter? Gravel and salt can easily be washed off after a drive.

POST 9Original post

I'm with the OP as I have other cars for winter duty. I'm also one that likes to find a hammer to pound a nail instead of an ax. Different strokes for different folks.

POST 10Original post

I've come to realize that cars don't last forever, and my car sitting in the garage for months can't do it any good. I want to drive it as much as I can, and enjoy it. So what if salt gets on it? I probably wont have it 10 years from now, who cares!?

POST 11Original post

mine has gone to sleep till march/april as well, anyway won't have time to enjoy it as there is a lot of work and the second beast also must be rewived

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Gang! Pete, right there with ya.......maybe "asleep" is okay...but for yours? What happened? Didn't you get a new(er)one? Where'd she go......you doing performance work???? I read about Jake and his standing behind the other one and the engine situation, pour me 2 fingers of single malt, please.......let me know what's up? Oh, and Happy Turkey! Barn: I sincere, honest, thanks, drive yours for me, please....gotta love when you pull up to the mountain, unstrap the skis (or snowboard) and get outdoors..........keep the faith, brother! Gonzo: so ya gonna rub it in a little, add some salt to the wounds......let's see, 82 degrees, top down Arizona, and you throw in a f#*king cigar..........almost makes me say "UNCLE"........ make mine a Maccallan 18, and a nice "diesel" unholy cocktail, or a San Lotano, Maduro..... Pete??? YA in?????? join us......Gonzo, your patio big enough????? Hardback, (Carey??)trying to get my mother moved to FL, (not sure where, yet) and I might have to take you up on your offer, last year, to "do FL" (track)..... soon, but not soon enough...... no projects, the car had a ton of work done last fall, Motorsport, AOS, new clutch, exhaust, coils and plugs, coolant reservoir, water pump..........this year still watching GT3 pricing, .............dreaming....... Andy and the rest, I get it if you want to drive yours, but once that salt and gravel get all over and sucked into the air vents, etc....and then add freezing temps, makes washing her a real bitch, then she sits with water spots or thin layers of ice on her......not for me, already takes a serious chunk of time each Spring to clay bar, polish and wax........... winter driving would just make it tougher..... I know the value keeps dropping, these are not air cooled...and were produced in large numbers with known "issues" just want mine in the best shape possible when it rolls out each Spring....must be a North(East coast thing)...........

POST 13Original post

I sold my 996. Bought a 2005 997S with Sport Chrono Plus from Jake. The motor is getting a 4.0! Just south 400 HP. I paid up early to Flat6 and the wait is onto March 2015. I have an oem Aerokit waiting for it in my garage. She will be the beast I have always wanted ! And the crazy thing I bought it from pics and have not seen it in person!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pete_ Holy Molly! What a nice set-up!!!!! I bet you will be anxious to get her in March. I know that you have it, but no pix=hologram........in other words, once she is done, need to see some pix!! GL and Happy Turkey! Keep me in the loop, please.

POST 15Original post

Yeah I'm watching GT3 997.1/2 prices get higher and higher. I wish I was in the market a few years ago but I'm still enjoying my 996. I'm like you, nothing left to mod at this point. Get in touch if you make it down south. Sebring in the winter is incredible. Great drivers from all over the country participating in Winterfest this year. Happy Gobbles

POST 16Original post

I am from the NYC area, but live in Tx now. I really, really miss my Bear Mountain runs during the fall. Yes, had to watch out for leaves, but the mixture of fall colors, crisp air and NO ONE on those roads lead to some amazing driving. I don't condone driving crazy on public roads, but pushing it slightly on those hilly/mountain roads was fun. Now I just have to deal with 70 deg weather this weekend. ;-)
