There are 2 bolts on the bottom of the door with black plastic covers that adjust the glass to sit properly on the wheater stripping.

The noise seems to be coming from the driver's side window near the ~90 degree angle where the outside mirror and panel to adjust the mirrors.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
This year was great to me! I was finally able to purchase my first Pcar--99' C2 Cab w/ 49K. Its winter here and have it in storage, but went and took it for a drive yesterday and heard somethings that I can't stop thinking about.
1. As i drove forward (tried reverse to) with full wheel lockout there was a knock/thump.... (i leaving the parking) It was not continuous, just a loud knock/thump. I have checked the standard ball joints (wiggle the tire), boots, etc. and can't seem to figure it out. Car drives straight and true.
2. Over 60 mph the wind noise in the car is unbelievable.... almost to the point that it feels the window is open but its not. The noise seems to be coming from the driver's side window near the ~90 degree angle where the outside mirror and panel to adjust the mirrors. The window seats in its tracks correctly and the felt looks alright...
I have searched through all of rennlist and all i can find is.
a. ball joint, tie rod
b. felt, window seal
I'll probably take it in next week to the local Stuttgart indy, but wanted to see if anyone has successfully figured these out.... thanks.
If it only happened just when you initially took it out of storage then most likely your brake pads were sticking due to moisture from not been driven. As for the wind noise check to see if your window glass is out of alignment. There are 2 bolts on the bottom of the door with black plastic covers that adjust the glass to sit properly on the wheater stripping. If you do a search on youtube or here you will find a few clips shownig how to do the adjustment after a regulator change.
The noise you heard backing the car up or driving it forward with the steering at full lock is normal. The inside tire is scrubbing and it skips. You should have heard the noise/racket the 2 new front tires on my Boxster made yesterday when I backed the car out of the service bay at the tire store after having the new tires fitted. Every mechanic in the place stopped and stared.
Wind noise can be from a badly sealing window as 996pp suggested.
The noise doesn't have to be from the wind either, but can be tire noise. If the tires are worn or just heat cycled and hard they can make quite a racket.
You can eliminate the window seal easy enough just play with the window as someone is driving the car down the road to see if you can affect the noise. If you can the odds are the window is not adjusted properly.
