Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

In my case it worked well for me because there were not many competitive buyers and I was under no pressure to act fast before it got away.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

My car. Would like to deal only with someone who can personally see the car at this time. PM me for contact info if there is serious interest. I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules with this post. Steve https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifi...php?id=2400741

POST 2Original post

Nice car, really nice motor and parts and a mass guy to boot. good luck with your sale.

POST 3Original post

People looking to buy might be interested in the interior color and condition... Presumably black, but maybe not!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The interior is black. The car needs nothing. Please, anyone interested in details should PM me for my phone number for specific details and photos.

POST 5Original post

A fellow Mass member! Looks like mine but a million times nicer!

Someone will get a smoking deal. I know it is considered irrelevant, but I've got over $50k invested in this one. The Jake Raby motor gets better and better as it continues to break in. It may take a while, but I'm confident the 1st serious buyer to experience it in person will buy it. If I had more garage space I'd keep it.

This is literally my car's twin. Same mileage, silver over black with 18" twists (my car now wears MK2 5 spokes, though), 4/98 build, AND my engine is due back in September with the FSI 3.6 street performer upgrade. I want mine to be a forever car, but it is still interesting to see what people are asking for this spec.

POST 8Original post

I know I said "no, thanks" when I was looking in June, but now that I have a fully stock 1999, this would also be nice to have in the driveway. I'll see if my Panamera that's up for auction sells tomorrow...

GLWA I'll be here....

POST 10Original post

Looks like a good buy with the FSI engine. Im tempted but I would have to sell my 2000 C2 tip and make up the difference plus taxes and reg etc. just a huge time suck

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fairly soon, I will submit it to BAT or Cars and Bids. I don't own a smartphone( old school 62 yr young), so I'll need to make time to be near a computer to keep up with responses to questions in a reasonable time. I'd much rather have someone see and experience it in person. I'm confident the 1st serious buyer will have to have it.

POST 12Original post

If i knew someone in the market for one, this car would be top of list. Good luck with sale! If only FSI had a classified section......

POST 13Original post

This car will do well on either site. There is a c4 with a FSI engine currently for sale on BaT. That will be a good barometer for you. I want to come see it but its a bit far for me. Why are you selling after such an short time with new engine?

We have a couple new vehicles lined up, one of which we can enjoy more with our grand daughters. I don't think my wife would like to give up her spot in the garage, so something has to go. It is usually only myself who takes it out occasionally. We gave up a convertible to scratch my Porsche itch. The itch has been scratched and we want that open car feel back.

rock and roll man. I have no doubt you'll be able to move your car easily on cars and bids or BaT. I'll be in touch if I decide I want a 6 speed to complement my 2000 C2 tip. Im a newlywed so nows the time to push it with the wife...

Our next anniversary with be 40 years! She has come to accept my addiction. There are many far worse ones to have.

POST 17Original post

I don't think Samba is the best place to list a 996. BAT will get you top dollar!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 16819480

I put it on thesamba because it was easy and I have been a member for years. I bought some nice cars over the years on sites and publications where you would not expect there would much buyer traffic. As a matter of fact I found my 996, this one on Hemmings. In my case it worked well for me because there were not many competitive buyers and I was under no pressure to act fast before it got away. The shop who had it, advertised it there because that is where he advertised most his other cars, He deals mostly in vintage Ferraris, Lambos and mostly 6$ figure cars. My 996 belonged to one of his regular customers.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This one has come with in conversation range. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-carrera-4-23/ I will try a bit longer for a private sale then probably BAT.

dont forget the 5% buyers fee

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh yes, with the buyers fee added puts it in the zone. The wife and I are making a road trip tomorrow to pick up another vehicle. I'll need to take the sale a little more seriously.
