Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace filter as well' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check deviation numbers' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think I noticed it more after I changed the oil and used liquid moly 5w40.

Also, check the oil filter for small brown plastic bits.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Mine does this also at 138k miles.
I figured it was just a loose exhaust or something. I noticed at first start it revs pretty high then comes down, I figured that was just a symptom of a cold start.
Cam chains. Probably needs new tensioner pads. If you have access to a durametric, check the deviation numbers. Also, check the oil filter for small brown plastic bits.
As suggested, get it hooked up to a scanner to see your cam deviation. Also, are you seeing much plastic bits in the filter after oil changes?
Replacing the tensioners is a pretty easy DIY and will be a lot cheaper than changing the pads. You could start with the three tensioners and go from there.
I had my Indy hook up to scanner and drop sump pan a few months back. He said there was no deviation, looked great and did not mention seeing plastic particles.
My car sounds exactly like yours on cold start. I think I noticed it more after I changed the oil and used liquid moly 5w40. It might have always been there, I listen and worry more since following this forum. 2001 C4 - 117,000 kms.
