Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

As recommended here I've jammed on the brakes to activate ABS and thus the pump after the regular flush.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just rebuilt my calipers, and bled the brakes (speed bleeders + pressure bleeder is awesome!). Now I'm wondering if there's any way to flush the ABS system without one of the special $$$ tools. I've got a 2002 4S w/PSM. For example, could the hydraulic pump be powered externally and then the solenoids be triggered individually? I'm guessing people have thought of this and it's not practical, but would like to know why.

POST 2Original post

I just did this job over the summer. From everything I read here, and elsewhere, even the dealers have a hard time with bleeding the ABS. As recommended here I've jammed on the brakes to activate ABS and thus the pump after the regular flush. It's works fluid through. it's a small amount of fluid and the rest is fresh. Everytime I feel the ABS work i feel good that I'm flushing the pump. Keep the fluids changed and it will be fine.
