Since I am saving on the labor, I figured that I would use the best parts available for this job.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It looks like I am in need of a new clutch. My buddy has a lift and has invited me to his place on a Saturday to replace the clutch on my 996. I have not tracked this car yet, but it looks like I will take it out to Willow Springs or another local track for some fun as soon as the weather cools a little
. What is the best performance clutch to purchase and where is the best place to make the purchase. Since I am saving on the labor, I figured that I would use the best parts available for this job. Any suggestions are appreciated
Thank you both for the advice, I have a couple of weeks to decide before we start the job. I have read up on Sachs products and most of their stuff is OEM Porsche
I replaced my clutch late last year and decided to go with a Spec Stage One kit. The instructions stated that it is common for the clutch to have some chatter when initially moving in either first or reverse for about the first 500 miles or so. They weren't kidding! At first I was really regretting my decision because it chattered so badly when easing out the clutch. A quick release worked much better. But as they stated, after about 500 miles it settled down and is fine now. I would definitely do it again. Bought from Pelican and I think it was around $600 versus about $800 for the Sachs. I think you can buy it directly from Spec and save even more.
Good luck!
Bumping this thread - trying to decided whether it's better to go with the Spec stage 1 or the Sachs. I know they're both good clutches, but what are the benefits to going with one vs. the other? It'll be for my 3.6 C4s, and I know that both of them are rated for more torque than the engine could ever hope for unboosted.
I've been doing price researching a lot lately, and the price differences between them are negligible from what I can tell. Maybe $50 at most between the best prices for each.
