Especially with the low miles and it obviously setting a lot in it's life.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New to the Rennlist forum. Sold the Boxster and purchased a 99 Carrera. I have noticed that when I raise the spoiler the bellows is pretty damaged (probably from age). Any idea where to purchase this part? Hate to go to the stealership. I have searched everywhere, even ebay and all the regular onone Porsche sites. Any help would be appreciated. Oh! Sorry, here is a couple of pics.

POST 2Original post

That is one sweet looking 99.. love the tan interior. Have you tried a Porsche breaking shop for the bellows? You may have to buy the engine cover/lid as well though. I doubt them selling just the bellows but it's worth emailing them. It really is a great looking car. What is the mileage??????????? How much was the car if you don't mind me asking? https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...11+dismantlers

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mileage is 27,000. Bought it and had the IMSB and the RMS done. Hard top is now on for the winter. Paid $20,000.

POST 4Original post

It might be part #996-512-250-00-M100 as shown on the parts list attached? Pelican Parts has it for less than $150, and I did not try pricing it out on other online sources. Attachment 888845

POST 5Original post

That is a real good deal for $20,000. Plus the hard top and very low mileage. Deal of the century without a doubt. I see a round hard top cover missing on the drivers side. You can buy those cheap from I think Pelican Parts. I know mine was missing one when I got it. What was the condition of the old double race bearing when they replaced it? Probably perfect is my guess.

POST 6Original post

Here are a couple links to DIYs for it that you might find useful. You'll have to register at renntech but totally worth the minutes of effort to do so. http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutor...-rear-spoiler/ A thread from this forum: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...r-spoiler.html

POST 7Original post

Replacing the bellows (rear wall) was one of the first jobs I did on mine (99 C2). I wanted the OE bellows so I went to the dealer and got one. Was fairly simple to replace. Auto Atlanta has it for $126. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=803-07

POST 8Original post

Sonnen has it for $92 here . I use Sonnen all the time (they usually have the lowest price) but for some reason I seem to be the only one around here.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I checked pelican and could not find it. I'll have to call them. And Hurdi, yes the DR IMSB was in good shape, but I can now rack up the miles and not have that nagging little fairy in my head telling me we could explode any time. Especially with the low miles and it obviously setting a lot in it's life. Clutch was like new.

SJG, I didn't know it existed. I do now. Thanks!

POST 11Original post

996 512 250 00 Is the part number. Pelican calls it a "grille wall."Search for that. Super easy DIY, just be careful with the clips. Check out this thread... https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...r-spoiler.html

POST 12Original post

The two on-line sources I use for parts most often are Suncoast and Sonnen. Of the two, I prefer Suncoast--flawless customer service, whether via email or over the phone. I'm guessing you are located in the Southeast somewhere, and Suncoast is a lot closer (Florida) than Sonnen (California). Sonnen's website is inaccurate as to shipping charges and whilst they are very good about contacting me to confirm I still want an item at a (higher) shipping price, the inaccuracy of their website is enough that they're my 2nd choice, and only when I have absolutely zero urgency for the part.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
