Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I asked the shop to try to fit it using OEM bushings but not sure whether that's a good or a bad idea.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I bought a set of H&R sway bars from a forum member, and I didn't think to look at them too closely. Took them to the shop, car is in pieces now, turns out the bushings are missing on both.
What should I do? This is for a 996 C2 Mk1. I asked the shop to try to fit it using OEM bushings but not sure whether that's a good or a bad idea. Alignments are wildly expensive where I am, so I would hate to have to redo this. Any advice on what I should do about this?
Thanks very much!
You shouldn't need an alignment after sway bars. The size of hr swaybars typically precludes the use of stock bushings. You can order through their resellers. I used gmg or similar out of North carolina
Understood - thanks. I'll talk to my shop. It would appear that the front is almost identical in diameter (23.7 OEM, 24 H&R) but the rear is going to be tricky at 21.7 vs 24. But glad to hear sways don't need a realignment!!! This may yet be saved.
Why don't you just call h&r and get the proper bushings ? The right bushings are much stiffer and a larger diameter than the stock ones .

I actually just got a reply from them. They want $100 per set (F/R), at least in Japan. I can't tell if they are made of gold or not, but I know I did almost have a heart attack. I wonder if other world partners are cheaper...
They are poly bushes , so higher performance and longer life than stock. You pay for performance but they should last 3x as long as stock bushes
Powerflex make poly swaybar bushes in multiple diameters , but probably not any cheaper than $100 for the set
That's fair enough and I get that, but OEM bushings are $12 a pair. I could change them quarterly and still be ahead in five years. I wonder if the JP distributor is simply taking me for a ride...
The sizes are listed with the bushings - make sure you get the right ones. I think both ECS and Pelican carry them...Also check with Justin @ Warehouse33 he extends a 10% discount to rennlisters... Not sure if he stocks them though. ** if u buy from ECS don't buy extra grease - they come with it - they'll rip u off for another $10 for a little packet that u don't need.!
Yep, this is the reply I got from them:
In case the print on the bars is "33510" the part number for the front bushing set is: 33510VA-Z, rear: 33510HA-Z.
In case the print on the bars is "33462" the part number for the front bushing set is: 33462VA-Z, rear; 33462HA-Z
