Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Sure there are some changes from model to model, but at the end of the day it's a 911, an icon.
Leading evidence: 'Replace from model' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace from model' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Stopped by the Porsche Museum yesterday while on a business trip in Germany. Even with all the negative 996 stuff out there, the one thing that stood out to me while looking at 911's from the 1970's onward is that a 911 is a 911. Sure there are some changes from model to model, but at the end of the day it's a 911, an icon. To the average person, it's a dream car. Needless to say, I just felt more like a "member" than most of the visitors knowing mine was waiting for me to return home. How's that for a "feelgood" story ?
Yeh I was 21 years of age at the birth year of the iconic 911. 5 years ago after many years of dreaming, I didn't buy a Porsche per say, I was financially sound and bought a 911 out right.
A friend of mine had a 76 Targa back around 1985 or so. Couldn't wait to get rid of it so he could upgrade to a 3.0 too many issues with the 2.7 motor he said. EVERY generation of 911 has had its pluses and minuses. You are correct they are ALL 911's.
I've owned 8 911s (well, technically one was a 912 - but close enough).
All purchased used, fixed up, driven for at least two or so years, then sold. It has been amongst
the least costly cars I've owned (and I've owned 77 at last count). That includes depreciation and upkeep.
My just previous 911 was a 993 - driven for 7 years, and almost 50k miles. It suffered from all the known 993 issues - (it didn't have the SAI issue, did have valve guide issues)
My college roommate had a brand new 356 - which he's been kicking himself for the past 50 years for having sold it.
With all that, I am not sorry I sold any of my 911s as the newer ones I've purchased have all been much better cars than the previous ones.
Here's a photo I snapped on Friday at the Festival of Speed when the 996 corral consisted only of a Turbo and my car...4 years after acquiring it, I have absolutely no urge to sell this car and buy something else. That fact alone says something about the car...
Great to hear you had a chance to stop by. I was in Zurich last month for business, but didn't have enough time to visit the museum. Definitely on my list the next time I am in Europe.
