Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm now wondering if the spares that look to be inflated..have they been used before?

When you have a flat you use the Porsche supplied compressor to inflate.

You can either dig up the 996 version or the current Cayenne uses the same type of spare and comes with an inflator too.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While correcting my tire pressures today I decided to check the condition of my spare and found it to be quite under-inflated. With Spring/Summer driving season coming (at least for those of us in the Northeast) you may wish to check this often overlooked task -- it could help you avoid major inconvenience.
I'm thinking the pic I posted was from a C4 and that's the way I remember my old car. I would be interested in what the type of spare is on the C2. Op......sorry if I added some confusion.
And the 997 comment? Yep!
Yep. My '99 C2 does not have a collapsible spare. Just a normal mini spare. Thanks for the seasonal reminder. I don't think I've checked mine in a few years.

I'm now wondering if the spares that look to be inflated..have they been used before? That's why they are no longer collapsible?
Pete, all C2s came with a normal doughnut. All C4s (TT too?) came with the DIY spare in your pic.
When you are done with the DIY spare you deflate it and it goes right back to the compact form.
Tip for the AWD crew, pull out your spare and inflate it from time to time to check it out. Stuck on the side of the road is not the time to find out you have a dry rotted spare
Is the wheel orange or black? Where is it stored?
If it is the Porsche inflatable spare (orange wheel) then you can just get Porsche's inflator. You can either dig up the 996 version or the current Cayenne uses the same type of spare and comes with an inflator too.
You can probably pick up a non-Porsche labeled version for 1/4 of the price though.
That wasn't that exciting. The first time I inflated the 996's it rolled over like it showed in the video, but then the sidewall snapped into place with a loud bang. Scared the crap out of me. The Cayenne's did it too when I tested that one out.
Good reminder, thanks (my C2 has the donut which does need to remain up to psi par). I have the Porsche mini-compressor in the frunk, but if I need the spare I don't want to be wasting time on the side of the road waiting for the compressor to do its thing - slowly.
996 has two types of spares - you're talking about the collapsible spare - I'm talking about the other one - it's already inflated and ready to go...assuming the pressure is OK.
