Yuck, always makes me think someone replaced a body panel and hasn't got around to painting it to match the rest of the car.

I know the feeling of wanting to add things or change things up for a different look, but sometimes just keeping what you have in really good condition is the best option.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm thinking about wrapping my hood flat black. Guards Red w/ black wheels, thought a black flat hood would look sweet. Everyones opinion please, thanks...
Photoshop it first (much cheaper than an actual wrap) so you can have a better idea if you will really like it or not. At the end of the day, it is WHAT YOU LIKE that matters.
P.S. But since you asked for opinions, IT IS A NO for me because it will be a bit too RICER-esque IMHO. Image below swiped from the net in case you have not GOOGLEd yet
It always strikes me as a car that has replacement panel that hasn't been painted. But, I'm sure I do things with my cars that aren't to other people's taste either.
It's your car, make it your own in the manner that makes you happy.
I think this looks pretty cool:

Do it!
stone guards added - stone guards make no sense on narrow body so that would be my 1st objection - and i've never liked black hoods or black wheels on 996 so i will remove myself from judging instead of my usual put downs and obnoxious responses
Yuck, always makes me think someone replaced a body panel and hasn't got around to painting it to match the rest of the car. Maybe if you added some racing stickers all over the car and a big wing it could offset this, but otherwise my vote is no.
It would definitely take a car that already catches your eye and make it stick out even more. But you have to figure out what will make you smile every time you look at your car. For my grey 535i, it was simply a dark tint and powder coated black wheels. Not sure yet what it will be on my 996.

The nice thing about a wrap is that it's removable. If you get tired of the look, it's easy to remove. Recently having a wrap on some body panels on my car removed due to wanting to change up the design/look.
I don't mind the tint, looks pretty good on this car. Overall I think your car looks really good as is. I know the feeling of wanting to add things or change things up for a different look, but sometimes just keeping what you have in really good condition is the best option.
What about a carbon fiber pattern wrap for the hood? Also, I kind of like the stone guards - gives it an '80's retro look. If you want to add some bling, you might want to look at a decal for just above the rocker panel. There are some cool ones out there. The nice thing about it is that you can just peel & remove if you get tired of it. Have some fun with your car if that's what you want. People have been customizing Porsches for decades.
The expiration date for the faux carbon look has come and gone. I checked the ImportTuner.com website - they don't have ANY Di-Noc wrapped hoods or roof panels, so you KNOW it's played out.
But, like every other visual mod, the only really important opinion is your own - you're the person who drives it and looks at it the most...
Exactly, Porsche's really don't need anymore unnecessary black striping, fake carbon fiber panels, or
PORSCHE
logos to make them go any faster or let people know that you are driving one.
It
screams
-- I really couldn't afford the ride, and I certainly can't afford to maintain it, but I can afford to put something else black on the car besides the wheels.
Maybe just putting
RICER WANNABE
on the side in black letters might help with the identity crisis.
OH LAWWWD... just stay off of the EBay.
Yes, the black hood is precisely what makes this car look awesome. That other stuff is just window dressing. Psh.
A hood that happens to be black - but is also carbon fiber or fiberglass and has functional cutouts so it serves a purpose AND is lighter than the factory hood - is cool. A vinyl-wrapped hood - which is the factory hood PLUS a quarter-pound of stickers - is less so.
That car looks SO DAMN HAPPY. Just look at it! "I have a stupid hood and I don't even mind because HAPPY!"
If that car had a name, it would be Porschey McPorscheface.
OPION: Love the stripe - it's not confined by the dimensions of a single panel. Not too Drifter-Japanese; slightly restrained, but breaks up the monotonous red.
The rounded end of the strip makes me think "pantyliner" - but maybe I've just seen one too many of those
in situ
and the rest of you don't see feminine hygiene products in your paint.
WHY?!
And, while I don't think I can add anything that hasn't already been said, you can count me in on the "not a fan" list when it comes to black hoods...or even CF hoods, for that matter. I'm also with Groovzilla on not really liking black wheels either. And, FWIW, I also don't understand why people black out the gas cap lids on cars either. I'm not so offended by the fender guards although I agree they're totally unnecessary on a narrow body but I don't see them as an improvement to the NB cars.
