Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Busted off the bolt that holds the bumper, fender liner, and fender together. The inside of the fender has this little captive nut which pushes in from underneath, but I can't find the part in the service manual or parts websites. Anyone know what the p/n is and where to buy one? this is the captive nut that fits into the fender frame. There is a bolt that goes through holes in the fender and the fender liner, and screws into this captive nut which presses into a square hole in the fender. this is the front bumper in silver, the fender liner in black

POST 2Original post

I'm missing one of those, too. There's a piece of air duct rubber that hooks into it as well. I'm currently on a mission to find a replacement before the Great Radiator and Condenser cleaning of 2017 commences.

POST 3Original post

John, this part is number 99959162901 (Captive Nut Plate) item # 28 on diagram and if you need the bolt it's part number 90037807401 (bolt) item #23. Looked under Engine/water cooling section of Porsche 996 PET. I had the same issue, luckily I actually had a pick-your part salvage yard of Porsche carcasses near by and got it there instead of forking for S/H from online or making a trip to the Stealership.

POST 4Original post

anybody that looks for these odd special parts should go to the dealer and buy them, its alot less headache than trying to figure out on your own

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey thanks very much I found the captive nut on Pelican.

POST 6Original post

I found it, too, but according to the diagram it seems to say that it mates to a bolt. The one I'm looking for simply takes the normal bumper fastener - Philips or Torx screw.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
