Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi fellow ladies and gents.
I have my eye on an 997 Turbo that's located in Lincoln Nebraska in a small used dealership. I spoke to the salesman/owner but the price sounds a little too good to be true. I spoke with an independent PPI company, but they will charge the full price if they go out and can't locate the car. So before I fork out $250 can anyone that's in the area put eyes on the car? I will gladly mail a $50 early Christmas gift card as a return favor.

Happy Holidays to Everyone
996pp: I should be able to slide by in the next couple of days, as I live in Lincoln. I am not familiar with this car lot. Seems like an odd place for a lot!? Anything in particular you want other than that the car is physically there? Mind if I ask who you plan on using for PPI? Just wanted to compare who I used.
Thanks wildbilly32
Its carzinspection.com They're not Porsche pros but from my understanding they have inspectors all over the nation that are contracted with them. I have not paid them yet or given any info as when I called they told me that it doesn't matter if they do the inspection or not I would have to pay full price just for them to go out there. Which doesn't sound fair. So if the car does really exist I would also like to talk to your guy if you don't mind sending me his info.
AUTOWORKS at "autoworkslincoln.com". Jim, the owner, has been wrenching on European cars for years and still does. Check out the website and see what you think. They can do most anything you want done and they have always been fair with me. If you call tell George that Bill M. recommended them. I am just their customer and nothing else. They have worked on my C4S, 300ZX and my Rav.
Talk to Jim but my guess is he would want it at his place to get it in the air for a complete underneath look. They found some things on my C4S that you would not be able to see unless on a lift. It turned out all good but I think necessary. I'm not sure how good a PPI would be unless lifted!?

Seems like a lot of work in Florida in Dec-Jan...maybe just upgrades? Do Turbos typically get new plugs @ 20K? And new mufflers?
I saw that too Schnell and made me wonder, and from what I have been reading plugs should not need replacing at 20k, but they did have a recall on muffler clamps at some point.
Is this the place?
https://www.bbb.org/nebraska/busines...ts-and-Actions
They have quite an inventory of cars...but the BBB report would bother me - but maybe they changed.
^^
Yes but I also came across this
https://www.bbb.org/nebraska/busines...n-ne-300001716
Which the name of the owner Lemont Woolen also matches at a different address.
996pp: I will slide by this place but I, too, am becoming skeptical. Will let you know. Another thing: I Goggled them then clicked their alleged website it loaded blank! HHHHMMMM...
BUSINESS ALERT
A BBB investigation confirmed with the property owner of 1830 Yolande Avenues, Lincoln, Nebraska that there is NO CAR DEALERSHIP AT THIS ADDRESS. This Yolande Avenue address in Lincoln, Nebraska has been advertised on websites including
http://havelockmotors.com
and most recently at
http://lincolnavenuemotors.com
. Bogus company names include Havelock Avenue Motors and Lincoln Avenue Motors as well as variations of these names. Consumers contacting the BBB searched for cars online and found this company offering cars with incredible deals. The actual physical address of this entity is unknown
Another interesting thing is the listing for the car on CarMax are the photos...one of car, door sill cover, one of center console lid and one of brake caliper...HUH?
Mr. Lamont emailed me a dozen more pictures but I have not been able to get hold of him all day today. He has quite a few listings on carfax for sale section. I will wait for your report Wildbilly32 and if this turns out as we all are expecting I am going to make sure all those listings get deleted from CarFax website.
From flipping through the postings it appears that almost all of them are nice cars at super cheap prices. However, that was just a quick look. I hope to drive by there Weds.

Scam, scam, scam. 996pp, are you really thinking that this is a real deal?
Look at the google maps of the dealership address and on car's history. Car lived in NY and FL. Now out of nowhere it is in the bum**** Nebraska in the junky old pick-up trucks lot? Did dealer tell you how he got the car? Carfax says car was just issued new registration in NY on 11/03/2016, no sale record is present.
I have $50K I need to contribute toward the purchase of this car, but I need $250 to pay for the wire fees. Please PM me so I can provide my western union details.
Sincerely,
NigeriaNineNineSix
I am Dr. Bakare Tunde, the cousin of Nigerian Astronaut, Air Force Major Abacha Tunde. He was the first African in space when he made a secret flight to the Salyut 6 space station in 1979. He was on a later Soviet spaceflight, Soyuz T-16Z to the secret Soviet military space station Salyut 8T in 1989. He was stranded there in 1990 when the Soviet Union was dissolved. His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home.
In the 14-years since he has been on the station, he has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost $ 15,000,000 American Dollars. This is held in a trust at the Lagos National Savings and Trust Association. If we can obtain access to this money, we can place a down payment with the Russian Space Authorities for a Soyuz return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost $ 3,000,000 American Dollars. In order to access the his trust fund we need your assistance.
Consequently, my colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount to your account or subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants are prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau (Civil Service Laws) from opening and/ or operating foreign accounts in our names.
Needless to say, the trust reposed on you at this juncture is enormous. In return, we have agreed to offer you 20 percent of the transferred sum, while 10 percent shall be set aside for incidental expenses (internal and external) between the parties in the course of the transaction. You will be mandated to remit the balance 70 percent to other accounts in due course.
Kindly expedite action as we are behind schedule to enable us include downpayment in this financial quarter.

So, it doesn't look like the kind of place you would normally imagine finding a 911 Turbo...the $62K asking price would buy everything else on the lot.
Google Street View:
They even have a sign!
Kalash I have looked at the google street view and Avenue Motors was at that address provided on carfax. Google image is from 2012 but I figured I will give this guy the benefit of doubt. And trust me no one is getting a wire even if the car does end up being real. Round trip flight is about $600, I will personally go load the car up into transporter before he gets a penny.
There are a few comments on the Google Street View page for the business:
"BEWARE!!!!! I caution anyone looking to purchase a vehicle from this dealership, DO NOT DO IT!!! This is a scam, DO NOT WIRE THEM MONEY!!!" (2 weeks ago)
"This is a SCAM. You can delete my post as much as you like, I will simply continue to post. The business is a vacant lot and the building is a warehouse business. It is not a car lot. If you wire money, it will disappear and you will not get a vehicle." (4 weeks ago)
There are also several glowing 5-star reviews; curiously, the name of the business is spelled in all caps in almost all of the positive reviews. You know, like the same person had written them or something.
Kalash/5CHN are correct AVENUE MOTORS LINCOLN(
) is not in a neighborhood one would expect a 911 Turbo to be found. There is a junk yard across the street. The street view is from 2012. The comments quoted above I have also read. I have a list of all the cars from the CarMax ad to see if any of them exist when I check it out. I do not hold out much hope, but perhaps if this is a scam someone else can be saved from losing $$$$$.
BTW the previous address of 1225 Cornhusker is vacant but does show signs of possibly being a small car dealer even though shabby at best.
Good move. I do plan on going by, however, uncertain when. My wife is home after a rotator cuff surgery and I'm trying to keep her comfy! Full time job that!
996pp: Thanks for the well wishes. No need on the address, per post #1. I am just happy to help as are many on this forum. I will update after "visit".
Schnell if you wish for an early Christmas gift PM your full bank account, full S.S. number and your mothers maiden name. I will make sure your Christmas is filled with lots of joy.....
Watching TV last night and a crime show and this crime was the subject of the show. And then I remembered this thread and thought: A coincidence? I think not.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Starkweather
This would be all the proof I need to stay away from Lincoln and their cheap Porsches.
Eddie
Sad but some locals still remember and talk about Charles. Kind of like the Nebraska Bonnie and Clyde. Fortunately I'm a transplant. Wished I would have found one of those "cheap Porsches"!
Last time someone tried to give me 5 across the lips stabbed himself 3 times in the back and jumped off a bridge, It was ruled a suicide by local law enforcement.
I am waiting for the Billy's report and pictures from the location. He should introduce himself as 996pp, say he is excited to buy the Porsche right now and has cash ready in the bank.
^^^ Definitely
But first I'm going to email him for an account number for me to send him a deposit before I email that pic to him. If he sends me any info I'm going to see if I can get the local law agency to look into it.
wildbilly32 Thank you for all your time and effort. If you are ever in SoCal hit me up and im definitely buying you lunch and beer.
996pp: You're welcome. I am sorry it didn't work out for you. Keep looking.
I'll take the lunch and an iced tea. Might be a while though. Last time we were SCal was San Diego for the Stones concert a few years back.
I also like your idea above Keep us updated. Inquiring minds want to know!
Perhaps it might stop others from the same fate if law enforcement is interested and some further info is supplied by Lamont. Wouldn't this fall under some federal regulation violations as well?
Nope...I think he figured that I wasn't just going to fall into his trap like some OLD 993 owner
with all the stuff I was asking him over the phone last time we spoke. But I hope he still does, I really want to pass his info into the hands of the right people.
