Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My interior is black. Like all black. Nothing but black...and in need of some highlights to spice it up. This is a set of matte aluminum gauge trim rings sourced from www.didotuning.com costing $55 including shipping. They snap securely on the gauge rings and can be as easily removed.

POST 3Original post

I just ordered the exact same thing, through the same manufacturer on ebay. Looking forward to getting them! I think they look great!

POST 4Original post

I have the same ones. Amazing Porsche didn't do this from the factory, it adds so much to the look of the dash.

POST 5Original post

They are actually Polish. Here is the site: http://sklep2.didotuning.pl/334-911-996 The first one is gloss/shinny/polish finish the second one is a flat/mat/brushed finish.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15000172

Sorry about the bad link. BTW, it all in Polish. Thank goodness for Google translate! Totally agree that these needed to be fitted by Porsche.

POST 8Original post

Interesting. These are quite a bit different than the ones I have seen previously. These seem to snap in and just put a small lip around the edge of the dials. The other rings I've seen in the past cover the sides of the dial surrounds in addition to the lip (and those require silicone sealant to install). I'm not sure which I prefer from a looks perspective, but these look like they are a bit easier to install. It's nice that these come in brushed aluminum, that is a much nicer look to me than the rings that are painted silver to look like aluminum (or painted in some other color).

POST 10Original post

Dido can do them in polished or matte finish, just specify when you order off ebay. Shipping is from Poland. I accidentally bent one when I was installing and he sent me a replacement free of charge, even with shipping from Poland, I couldn't believe it. Great customer service.

POST 11Original post

I have an older version and I paid double that price. Then for awhile they weren't available anywhere. Nice find.

POST 12Original post

Anyone else with pics of before and after install?

POST 13Original post

I just ordered them, so as soon as I get them and install I will post a pic

POST 14Original post

Just finished snapping mine in...graphite gray interior. Not too shabby for less than $50. This set is matte and matches very well with the other trim.

POST 15Original post

I am failing to order a matte set on Ebay or their site. And the email from them when you register is not valid. Anyone have contact info that works? Thanks.

POST 16Original post

[email removed] e-mail and www.didotuning.pl for the website. They take Paypal and write decent English. My order, shipped, was 185 zloty’s or $50. Cheers, Mike

POST 17Original post

Just ordered a set from Ebay last week. They shipped right away...When you order you send a msg in the payment confirmation telling them if you want brushed or polished. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911...72.m2749.l2649

POST 18Original post

Just ordered a set. Ill actually be in Poland next month, but the shipping costs are so low... Thanks for the tip!

POST 19Original post

My car came with those. I thought they were from the factory.

POST 20Original post

just installed my set this evening, I have to agree with the OP its a great looking pop of color on my all black dash

POST 21Original post

It's hard to describe how much this improves the look of the car, and just how much of a no brainer it is. I'm pretty sure I got an 18 horsepower gain from this "modification". :-)

POST 22Original post

I might get booed out of here, but I’ll give it a shot. These would fit a 986.1 save for the battery voltage & oil pressure gauges I don’t have, right?

POST 23Original post

After stumbling through the broken english of Google Translate I think I ordered a set of Brushed Matt Aluminum through ebay. Thanks for the links!

POST 24Original post

Mine just arrived from Poland today, I'll put them up and take pics soon. Pretty fast shipping!

POST 25Original post

Try a set of lighter grey mats with black trim as depicted in this photo. /X3 Lloyd mats in grey w/black Porsche logo

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 15031773

How did you get the Porsche logo on there? I don't see that as an option on Lloyd mats

POST 27Original post

Please confirm these snap into place and I don't need to remove the cluster in order to install. Because that is what it says on their Ebay page. Thanks, Ted

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15031824

Clips straight-on, with no need to remove anything. Could not be easier.

POST 29Original post

Got them on! The hardest one for me to get to clip in was the middle piece, it's a very snug fit. I had to slightly file some of the corners on a few of the pieces as there were little burrs on them. Other than that, makes it look a bit more classy in the cabin, for sure. Matches great with the other brushed accents as well.

POST 34Original post

NVM. I'm dumb and didn't even bother looking at the site.

POST 35Original post

Awesome mod! Thanks for posting this. I just clipped them in and done. I'm wondering if I should glue them Before After

POST 36Original post

Quotes source post: 15058852

Looks great. Are those the matte rings?

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not sure why you would want to glue them into place as they hold nicely as they are, and can be removed should you decide. I also removed my instrument cluster and cleaned the instrument lens both inside and out, and the appearance is pretty dramatic. I followed this extremely good video: You Tube . Bob

POST 38Original post

Quotes source post: 15058979

3:10 in this video is solid gold stuff. That is the most difficult part of separating the instrument pod and if you don't do it right, bad things happen to the plastic.

POST 39Original post

Here are shots of my setup. Took a bit of time for the round piece to fit in, the rest were easy. KGdN6Sf.jpg Before 6v7AngT.jpg After

POST 40Original post

They look fantastic with the red gauges. This is definitely on my to-do list.

Pretty cool how your Vans match the floor mats, too.

POST 45Original post

Got mine - the center circle surround doesn't fit! Waste of money!

POST 46Original post

Quotes source post: 15104723

That's what I thought at first. It does fit you just have to work it around.

POST 47Original post

Quotes source post: 15104723

It does fit, it just takes some time to get it right. Keep at it. Took me 20 minutes. I had to almost stretch it into place around the bezel. Once it clicks in it is solid and the rest are easy. Post pics when done. Ted

POST 48Original post

+1 on working the center ring a little to form the aluminum. It took me about 5 minutes of finger and thumb working after initially thinking the ring was too small. Good luck with it.

POST 49Original post

So keep pressing it in, and eventually it will pop into place? Seems like it will never fit without breaking the plastic lip of the gauge.

POST 50Original post

Try working it in a circular motion. Apply pressure at 3 and 9 o'clock position, then while maintaining pressure, push right thumb up towards 2 and down towards 4, then repeat on the 9 side. First couple of tries, I couldn't get mine on, then eventually is rolled on.

POST 52Original post

Quotes source post: 15110987

Awesome!!! Couldn't have taken longer than it took for me and my two left hands.

POST 53Original post

Quotes source post: 15111015

It was just a PITA to get the middle one on! But it was worth it, I love the look - brightens up the dash.

POST 54Original post

Update: Just went to my car to get something - and the 95 degree heat must have caused the rings to pop off. They are all on the mat, except the center one!?

POST 55 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If they popped-off, you more than likely did not have them properly seated on the instruments. They need to click into place and you'll absolutely know when they are seated. You can pull them off, but it does take some effort.

POST 56Original post

Ah. Guess I'll try yet again. At least the center one didn't come off!

POST 57Original post

The other ones should be easy to snap into place. The keyword being snap.

POST 59Original post

Quotes source post: 15112248

Id be up for that if one were arranged.

POST 60Original post

Quotes source post: 15112438

cool, I'm in too. Does someone have a direct contact that I can email, or does the generic email address work?

POST 61Original post

I'll probably order these soon but my advice would be to put the center ring in freezer for an hour before install to see if that will help. Also, here's the video from the folks that produce the rings: You Tube

POST 62Original post

Ah, there's a Left and Right to those outer rings!?

POST 63Original post

I bought them on Ebay. They were cheap, not sure a group buy would make a significant enough difference.

POST 64Original post

I like it. Wish the fit was a little better at the top of the tach though.

POST 65Original post

Quotes source post: 15150785

It looks incredible. Are you sure it is stretched all the way and locked into place?
