Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
A fellow forum member would at least allow you the ability to discuss and most likely a more honest transaction.
Leading evidence: 'more honest transaction' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'more honest transaction' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect after' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have seen huge sections of wheel damage/gone and yet a great repair shop can fix them.

You could even check with your local Porsche dealer and ask them who they use, walk around any high $ dealer and you will notice that not one used car on the lot has messed up wheels.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got back from Discount tire. My right rear rim is bent, and the two rear Conti's won't Hunter Road force balance under 30, they're ordering me two new tires. The dealer I bought the car from wants to have the rim straightened, I'm not so keen on that. What do you guys think? There's a real professional place here in San Antonio called alloy wheel specialist and he was going to have them do it. I'm just a little Leary about this.
If it's not "too bent" they should be able to do it. If they're a reputable shop, they wont let the wheel go if it's not perfect (it would be a liability issue for them).
I am a mechanic who has been in the business for many years. In ALL shops we find bent wheels causing vibrations. It is common practice to repair bent wheels. Curb rash, accidents damage, paint and chrome pealing can all be repaired. The barrel of the wheel can be fixed. The hub/spoke/face cannot be repaired if bent. However over 90% of bends are in the barrel of the wheel. I have seen huge sections of wheel damage/gone and yet a great repair shop can fix them. There are a lot of variable that come into play as to if the wheel should be fix including cost. Just make sure you look around and see previous repairs and look for reviews. The best guys can make the wheel look no different than the day it was made. Some guys will hack it up so bad you will regret it. Some are actually mobile repairs and other are send the wheel out for days. You could even check with your local Porsche dealer and ask them who they use, walk around any high $ dealer and you will notice that not one used car on the lot has messed up wheels.
Interesting you mention this. I had my tires balanced at DTD a month ago. Owned the car since 2012. No accident history. No curb rash, nothing. Had tires mounted and balanced over 2 sets of tires over the years all at DTD without mention of "bent" rims. This most recent trip they tell me both rear wheels are "bent" and they did the best they could to balance.
Our car is not a race car. We dont drive it a ton but over the years it has spent months at a time as a daily and the remainder as an occasional driver. It is a 4S with twists. Now trying to decide if I want to have a shop check them or buy a different set of rims. Been driving the car regularly the last two months without noticing any vibrations that seems abnormal.
Anyone have an idea what straightening a bent rim would cost?
My car is also a C4S with turbo twist. When i got mine i wanted new Michelins. The back two wheels were bent bad. Repairs were $189 for the backs and $100 to refinsh the fronts (only light scuffs on front).
When you call around most places wont give a price and they say the need to see a wheel. Worst damage if seen has cost about 250 a wheel. But that was bad accident damage. If it seems high, ask for a better price or call around. I can vouch that my rear wheels are perfectly straight now and no more highway vibrations.
Not to hijack but just found out my wheel is bent on face and was advised not to try to fix it. Anyone have an extra 10x18 ET65 Turbo Twist they want to part with?
Always some on ebay but more difficult to trust what you are actually getting and if the wheel is not also bent. A fellow forum member would at least allow you the ability to discuss and most likely a more honest transaction.
