This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey guys/ladies, i have an 02 996tt that has the center screen that is dark.. if the sun hits it the right way you can see what is on the screen so it is functioning however for the most part it is dark.. I have tried turning the button for dimming the gauge lights both up and down however nothing changes in the screen. if my memory serves me correct that is only for the gauges. I have also tried pressing the "dark" button that turns the screen dark thinking that it would bring it back? My ? is that there may be a bulb out that is for this screen(fingers crossed as well as my eyes and toes etc)? The radio etc plays, channel changes etc, etc but the screen does not get bright enough to see... thank you for any and all serious suggestions in advance... Tom

Tom, I think you've crossed all the bases. I've seen people with this problem and the only true way of improving the display's output is replacement of the gauge cluster or the actual display unit. You may try to find a company to repair the actual LCD display. There were several companies offering replacement LCD displays for the AC unit since they are more likely to die or lose correct display characteristics. Anyway, I hope you find a solution. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-996-...dXBv0-&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-996-...dW3hp0&vxp=mtr
