Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the BK adapters and side mounts to chassis mount the seat.

I bought some used manual Porsche 986/996 sliders from Oklahoma Foreign and adapted those to the side mounts.

I'm using stock 3pt, so I pulled the seat belt warning plug from the OE seat harness that attaches to the belt receptacle and plugged it back in.

I'm in the process of replacing my drivers seat with a Recaro (yes, another classifieds "deal.") I'm following the DIY Sneaky Pete linked awhile back and it's been really helpful.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok, I've been researching this one for 10 min and am hitting abort and asking for help. I'm in the process of replacing my drivers seat with a Recaro (yes, another classifieds "deal.") I'm following the DIY Sneaky Pete linked awhile back and it's been really helpful. But it left off at the point of disconnecting all of the power seat goodies. Before I dive into that, I wanted make sure there are no gotcha's for leaving the power seat connections unhooked under the seat.
Or most importantly, will the airbag still work if all that is hooked up is the seatbelt connection.
And yes, the battery is disconnected.
Thanks!
Don't even need the battery disconnected. Just don't put the key in. Seperate the seat belt warning plug and transfer it over to your new seat mount. That's about it. Unless mk1 is different from mk2 for some reason?
I'm going off memory here so take it with a grain of salt. I tried to find the link I used but couldn't. I think unpluging the seat harness with the key on can trip the air bag warning light which takes durametric or better to turn off. I'm using stock 3pt, so I pulled the seat belt warning plug from the OE seat harness that attaches to the belt receptacle and plugged it back in. If you don't use the 3pt I'm not sure what changes as far as warning lights etc.
Ok, cool. I'm using 3 pt as well. Seat didn't fit (not all deals are deals
despite sellers assurances so I'm reinstalling stock and chocking it up as a learning experience.
Mounting bracket didn't slope down in the front. I'm pretty sure it has Recaro sliders on it so I hit Mark up at OG and ordered the adapters.
Also, the seat back adjuster makes it about 3" wider than the stock seat so it won't slide all the way back. But I'm hopeful it will slide back "far enough." If not, I'll keep the slider and the adapter and repost the seat.
Mark is a good guy. On my seats I had side mounts but no sliders. I bought some used manual Porsche 986/996 sliders from Oklahoma Foreign and adapted those to the side mounts. Easy peasy.
I'm 6'2" and tried sliders but didn't like the seating position. I used the BK adapters and side mounts to chassis mount the seat. If you have manual sliders on your stock seat I'd just use that or buy some from that dismantler near you. Probably better (and cheaper) than using the recaro sliders and buying adapters.
